My family and I have been coming to this campsite for many years for our annual family camping trip. As the years have continued and our family has grown we have rented multiple sites(3 sites because we weren't aware that anyone under 2 was considered (our mistake)). Every year prior if there were any issues the gentlemans on golf carts have softly corrected anything that was wrong (Example: If teenagers were laughing a little too loud they would come and remind them to keep it down). The interactions with these men have been rather lovely and you can just tell that they were doing their jobs but wanted everyone to have a good time. This year was NOT the same.
On our last day there 30ish mins before our departure as we were loading our cars, the superintendent (Liz Johnston) showed up at our lot.The first thing that came out of her mouth was that someone from OUR group had POOPED in the shower! I was so shocked that someone with no evidence/face to the incident would make such an assumption just because we were ONE of the larger groups (2 teenagers, 13 adults, 3 kids and 2 (2 & under)) camping that week. It was DEGRADING to a degree that I wasn’t even able to keep my cool to listen to the other issues. She then said that OUR group was riding jet skis in the no wake zone. I informed her that we DID NOT own a jet ski and that the people in OUR group didn't even go swimming in the beach area (very muddy/slippery) but were swimming on the other side of the campground across the rope swing. She proceeded to say that OUR group (20 individuals) broke the soccer post. Because I didn't even go there my brother in law made a comment that said “Actually no. When we went to play soccer at 4pm on saturday we showed up and the post was already bent and broken. Because we still wanted to play regardless, we inserted a stick to put it together.” The only time anyone from OUR (1 teenager & 2 adults)group played soccer was that time saturday. I want to state that EVEN IF the goal post breaks the 1001 time it was hit during matches, that doesn't mean someone maliciously broke it. Things that are being used in large settings will eventually break and need repair. I stated that because we knew other campers at the campground doesn't mean that we should take responsibility for all faults. Because nothing sticked, she proceed to tell me that our site (#18) violated the quiet hours on Thursday night. I told her that I hadn't showed up then so I did not witness the encounter; however, I am sorry for that. I stated that we DID allow teenagers to join us in the evening that WERE NOT part of OUR group however we didn’t think that was against the rules. I proceeded to tell her that logically a group of 4 campers would indeed be quieter than even if a group of 20 people were even to whisper. I agreed with her point that that didn't exempt us from the rule and that we were really trying. I told her that even when we book we try to book the sites #18-20 (even though they aren't the best sites (closest to the day use area, boat loading and office) just so we can be as far away from other campers as possible. Again, we are sorry for being loud and a SOFT “can you keep it down” would go a long way rather than yelling. I would like to add that if ANY campers on site were causing issues it is best to address issues as they come up instead of waiting till 30 mins before departure to address them. At that point you aren't looking to solve anything but instead cause anger (which I'm sure you could tell by my tone that it did). We were sent an email as well as stated multiple times in the interaction that we were “to look into different campgrounds to accommodate our large group (20 ppl)”. I guess this campground doesn't want large families to come REGARDLESS of the amount of sites you purchase. What could have been a pleasant departure turned into one that was degrading and rude. This experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth and WOULD NOT recommend this campground to...
Read moreWe have a 23 ft camper and when made reservations we told them but they put us on site 66 which is very narrow so we could not put our canopy out and yes it rained so had to sit inside and not out!! There was a tree stump about 5 to 6 inches high right where the camper canopy would had been. Than at the end of our camping trip we could not pump the camper out. They said it was full at the pumping station. I can not believe that they did not think of having this pumped so the campers could pump their trailer. Our friend's were at the site next to us with a 40 ft motor home and barely fit in the site as far as length goes. The were from out of state and could not pump. They told us we could go to another camp ground and pump but who wants to drive all over to find it. This was our first time here and not impressed at all. When I called and told them about my problem they said next time you have a problem just call and we will move you to another site. Ok great call them when no other sites are available on a holiday weekend. That's does me no good. Thought they might have said sorry we will give you a discount on one night or something next time you visit. Okay now I do have to say the bathrooms were nice a clean...
Read moreWe had arrived at High Falls Park a little later than we normally would due to traffic and late leaving from home. I had reserved two sites online as one said it was 44 ft long and my camper was 40 ft. When we got there was no way the site was 44 ft long. It was rounded and very short . I went to the shack at the entrance and told them I needed to switch sides. She radio someone and they came to the office. While trying to find a site that would fit my camper I was told that one site was plenty big enough and then someone else came in and said there's no way that my camper would fit in that site they finally ended up giving me a "host site" that had "awesome hookups". When we got to the site it had no hookup for water at the site. We had to go buy three hoses to reach the nearest water Outlet. There was no shade at all. And while I booked two sites online I gave them one side back and they gave me a free bundle of $5 green wood. Needless to say this was a less than desirable camping trip and while they tried to make it right I don't think I will be back anytime soon if ever. They need to make sure that their sites online are actual true to size. Everyone beware because you may get there and not be able to...
