Just completed an November deer hunt. We choose to stay at the BGGR because of the services provided during this time of year. All of our party and others we talked with had much of the same "Negative" experience. The biggest complaint was the very rude hospitality largely by one person but that attitude was evident with others as well.
Walk in they make you feel like your a bother. She "Blonde" was so rude both with verbal comments and non-verbal body language we had to wonder why they were in this type of business! Two of the employees were friendly brunette lady and helper man others not at all?
They seem to like their daily routine of watching TV in the bar/cafe and don't like to be disturbed? Your not greeted nor felt welcome at any time of the day.
The shower/restroom was horrible. Ten minutes of sweeping and cleaning would have done wonders so that as you reach for a faucet cobwebs don't stick to you hands or leaves and dirt to your feet! I visited BGGR as a guest from a different city organization back when they first opened it was excitingly nice. Complacency seems to be the norm their now.
The good news is that this can all be improved if management wants it to be. Also even though I have lived in the area all my life I still find the area refreshingly beautiful and thats the real reason for being there.
Good luck to you BGGR I hope you take the measures to change things around....
Read moreI don't typically write reviews, but I feel like I should warn people about what they will need to bring before they book here. You will need to bring sandals or shoes to wear in the room because the floors are so dirty with dust and small rocks that you will not want to walk on them barefoot, or even in socks (we were here with another party and they said the same thing, so I know it wasn't just our room). You will also need to bring soap and/or hand sanitizer as there is no hand soap in the bathroom. Additionally, they provide one singular "conditioning shampoo" which is 0.75 fl. oz., so if you plan on showering more than once during your stay or washing your body, you should bring soap and shampoo/conditioner from home. Lastly, the shower was disgusting. I don't believe ours was cleaned, as there were long and short hairs covering the wall and the tub before we even used it.
The drive from Medora isn't terrible, and the view is scenic. If you're looking to rough it for a couple nights, this might be the place for you.
Things I would overlook but might as well mention since I am already making this review: Beds are uncomfortable and pillows are old and yellowed. The towels were extremely small and rough. Lighting was terrible and there was one small window to let in natural light...
Read moreBeautiful location, a great place to stay out in the country that is close to Medora. Grand views, nice hikes, nice rooms, large patio, fire pit, and real ranch surrounding (rooster included). Rooms had personal air conditioners, the first couple of rooms close to the restaurant had good WiFi access, and dorm sized fridges as well.
We held a family reunion here. Most families had rooms, some had 1 double bed, others had 2 (seemed like all the rooms had a single set of twin bunkbeds as well). So a room could easily have 4-6 people. Some camped in tents (hookups available for campers as well). We used the barn for our silent auction (clean and super nice for a large indoor gathering). The restaurant and bar area has tons of seating with a large banquet room separate of the rest of the main seating (the patio also has lots of seating available), a pool table, and buffet style meals are served (ribs, breakfast, ect.).
The patio and lawn area were the favorite of our large family! There were chairs on the patio, but we supplemented with our own camp chairs since we spent most of our days and nights there. We played lawn games, kids rode bikes, even got to spectate a ranch rodeo being held in the arena the...
