Beware of the Construction!

We are locals who live 10 minutes away but we sneak away to a cabin for a few days just for a nice getaway every now and then. Sometimes we choose a view, other times like in this case we choose a quiet cabin tucked away in the trees. We booked the cabin a week ago and weren't told about anything that may affect our stay.

Upon checking in only one person was checking people in. It took a good 10 minutes for the person working the desk to check in the gentleman ahead of my husband. He came out with the map and keys and we were good to go. He wasn't told anything of importance about the cabin.

Almost immediately after entering through the front gates we noticed construction equipment in front of a cabin. Then we turned the corner and our cabin was very close by. Like one cabin away.

We stayed for two nights in an adorable little one bedroom. The bed was comfy and we had zero complaints at all in that regard. We winded down rather late for the night with our 1 year old and settled in for some sleep. Now there are noises you can expect staying in the woods like birds or other wildlife. What you do not expect is to woken up at 8-8:30 in the morning by jackhammering and other construction noise. Woke up all three of us on less than 8 hours of sleep. Certainly not what you want when you're on your vacation. Morning two, copy and paste. The noise was somehow even louder and this time they had construction vehicles and a huge tractor trailer flat bed right across from our cabin. Once again woke all three of us up. We could hear them working, yelling, driving and drilling all day which made it real fun putting our little one down for naps.

Now what do most places do when you voice your concerns? I'm sorry but not getting 8 hours of sleep and the baby not being able to nap certainly is a concern of mine. When checking out my husband brought up the construction noise and was told rather casually "yeah, that's recent." That's phenomenal news, but I find it hard to believe that construction just happened to get started for the first day the morning after we checked in. No mention of construction one cabin over when the reservation was made, and believe me as there is no way to book this place online and it has to be done over the phone, there certainly was an opportunity for someone to tell us that. No mention of construction at check in. So there you are dropping several hundred dollars for a nice quiet cabin up in the woods away from it all and instead wind up in a construction site. No attempt to make it right, just an excuse and no apology.

As previously stated we regularly get away for a couple of nights and thought this would be nice and close to home if we needed anything and would be nice and quiet. We were wrong. Beware of the construction going on at this resort because evidently no one will tell you about it and you might be in for a shock when you get there.

I'm sure you guys have more than enough business than you know what to do with but these locals probably won't be back. Really felt like no one cared about the...

Oak Haven cabin #80 was just what our family needed! We stayed a long weekend and didn't want to leave! Cabin was super clean! The views were amazing!! We enjoyed all the cabin had to offer- hot tub, arcade games and pool table kept us entertained and our boys turned into pool sharks during the stay 😀 The pictures are old- they have new gliding furniture on the sun deck that we spent most evenings on enjoying the view. We spent time on the front porch swing and rockers earlier in the day because it was cooler. We stayed 3 nights and did not have to exchange any linens. They gave us plenty of towels, wash cloths and kitchen towels. They provided paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher detergent and trash bags, along with hot tub towels! Our son is a basketball player and he really enjoyed the court. We did not use the pool but it looked really nice. The game room has a ping pong table and Foosball with arcade games for no extra cost. The exercise room looked to have great equipment but have to call front desk for code. The ONLY disappointment we had was the the LAKE/ POND. On the website it states its a catch and release, the pictures do not match what is here. Our boys are big fisherman and packed fishing poles and tackle boxes only to find out there is a wooden railing all the way around the pond. Dont plan on fishing, it wasn't fishable, but did have a pretty fountain. The living area of the cabin is smaller than what it looks in the pics but the outside spaces and game room made up for that. The upstairs mattresses were on the firmer side and the bathroom could use some extra hooks to hang towels for getting out of the shower. Overall this is a great resort! Wish I'd had time for a facial at the spa!! We will...

Nestled in the breathtaking peaks of the Smoky Mountains, this mountain resort offers a truly unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The resort's picturesque location provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The accommodations at the resort are luxurious and comfortable, with spacious rooms and cozy fireplaces that provide a warm and inviting ambiance. The on-site amenities are top-notch, including a world-class spa, and a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and river activities and more.

The staff at the resort are friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that guests have a memorable stay. Whether it's arranging a guided nature hike or recommending the best local attractions, the staff's dedication to hospitality is truly commendable. Giving a special recognition to the maintenance staff! While cooking dinner, the stove top glass broke and I was ready for a fine to the least. Not only we did it get fined, but the staff was at our cabin within minutes and their main concern was our safety. They promptly removed the damaged stove and installed a new one in under 30 min!

Overall, this mountain resort offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, luxury, and adventure, making it an ideal destination for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of the mountains. I highly recommend this resort for a truly unforgettable...
