You know when you go somewhere to relax and instead end up in a low-budget episode of Cops? That was our day, thanks to the guy “overseeing” this place — a full-time flashlight hero, part-time ego tripper.
We were in the day use area, parked near a grill. Turns out, the “parking spot” was actually a tiny campsite. Oops. A normal person would say, “Hey folks, that’s a campsite — you’ll need to move.” Easy. Done.
But not this dude. No, this Mountain Mall Cop skipped “polite” entirely and went straight to interrogation mode: “You have a day pass — why are you camping?” I tell him, “We’re just grilling, didn’t realize it was a site since the sign says day use only.” He decides I’m lying. Doubles down. Keeps pushing. Because nothing says “public service” like manufacturing conflict where there is none.
Then — THEN — this cone commander looks at my husband with a “control your woman” face. It takes a real special kind of smart to look to my spouse for backup. Dime Store Deputy is lucky I didn’t go feral at that point. Must’ve been the mountain air.
This wasn’t about rule enforcement. There was literally nobody else in sight. He’s just a small, sad man on a power trip, desperate to play cop in a place where the only real crimes are overcooked hot dogs.
Pro Tip: If you enjoy being falsely accused, condescended to, and treated like a criminal, this is your paradise. If not, avoid this place like it’s serving gas station sushi.
Whoever manages Dictator Dinkey needs to either train him in basic human decency… or at least send him to the dog park to be...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place where your kids can run free, make noise, laugh, run, and enjoy themselves this is not the place. This time around we couldn’t play music, not even low. We have been camping at Dinkey Creek for the past six years. Our last five years were memorable, we played music, played games, laughed, hiked, went in the creek, and enjoyed ourselves. This year we are unsure what changed, management? Grounds keepers? From the moment we arrived we were targeted. The Grounds keeper was rude, shoved papers in my 17 year olds face. Yelled at my husband when my husband wasn’t even at the camp site while we were playing music. He Kept making rounds and found any little thing to complain about. Honestly this all started when we played Mexican music. While we played country, no complaints. So if you have kids, want to play music during non quiet time hours, laugh, run, and play, this is not the place to camp at anymore! Rude, racist, no...
Read moreGreat campground, in a beautiful location, been camping here for years…but definitely not peaceful anymore! Seems everyone has a generator now, and will run them 4-5 hours at a time, in the mornings and late afternoon. All you hear is engine noise! We camped next to two guys in an older RV, and their onboard gen blasted right into our camp multiple times a day, so we had to keep our trailer closed up and was so loud it would echo throughout the campground. And dog barking! Everyone has dogs and just lets the bark excessively, with zero consideration for others. And our camp host did nothing. I’d suggest setting generator hours between 11 and 1pm ONLY for people to charge their batteries and/or precook their dinner. And then have a strict excessive no-barking policy, if they can’t control their dog barking, more than 2 complaints, would be...
