Chic and Cosmopolitan Shelburne Springs Hotel on the Mohawk Trail.
My family and I recently had a week-long stay at the Shelburne Springs Hotel, nestled along the historic Mohawk Trail. Our accommodations included a spacious, detached apartment behind the main bldg as well as an extra large suite within the hotel itself. Both options exceeded our expectations in elegance and comfort, solidifying Shelburne Springs as one of my top hotel experiences. Seriously. And surprisingly, the prices are very reasonable.
Following a big renovation, the hotel now presents itself as modern luxury and timeless charm. The common room became our favorite place, with comfortable furniture, a welcoming fireplace, and seating for relaxation and chitchat. The quaint bar adjoining this space opens at 5 PM. They have great peppermint chocolate martinis too.
As for the accommodations themselves, Brolin Winning's vision in the renovation is mind blowing, with exquisite style and cleanliness. The furnishings, more luxurious than any I've owned, contribute to the vibe. The suites are complete with kitchens and comprehensive amenities, making the experience akin to residing in a chic, cosmopolitan home. The large refrigerator is particularly convenient, allowing for fresh groceries from the nearby Big Y store, just a ten-minute ride away.
I think it's just a matter of time before this hotel makes its way into architectural digest. Go before it...

Read moreMy adult daughter and I spent the weekend at Shelburne Springs. We stayed in Suite 2. It was beautiful, spacious, and light-filled with lots of window views looking out onto the fields and mountains on one side and the courtyard on the other. The king-sized bed was incredibly comfortable. We had such good coffee in our room! The whole place is gorgeous with rich colors, textures, patterns, and details. Heated tiles in the bathroom! The very friendly staff and inn keeper elevated the whole experience. We had some great conversation. |We enjoyed cocktails on the courtyard. Saturday night there was a fabulous jazz trio; the vibe was spot on. I had a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Everything was great. |There was a selection of games and books for guests to enjoy which I thought was a nice touch. |The surrounding grounds were a real treat. So many giant mature trees and spaces to hang out. In addition to the courtyard there was an upper field with an additional fire pit area. I spent part of an afternoon in that field on a blanket watching the birds, listening to late summer crickets, reading and relaxing. What a perfect reset for my whole being. |I highly recommend Shelburne Springs! Can’t wait until...
