AVA Shenandoah A-Frame — Hotel in Shenandoah

I was initially impressed by the beautiful view — the location clearly has potential. However, my stay was affected by several functional and cleanliness issues:

• The loft bedsheet was extremely wrinkled, slightly damp, and had visible hair. • Remote is missing in the movie theater, and the middle recliner in the second row of the movie theater was broken and couldn’t recline. • The pool table had only one usable stick; the others had broken or missing tips. • The ladder to the loft was one of the most difficult parts of the stay. The loft is set high up and is only accessible by an extremely steep ladder (likely around 60 degrees) with very narrow wooden steps — especially near the top. There’s no handrail on the lower half, and the smooth wood surface felt slippery, which made climbing down even more nerve-wracking. Because the loft is so elevated, it wasn’t practical to place belongings up there first. I had to carry everything while climbing, which felt unsafe. This setup was especially challenging for me, and I can imagine it would be even more difficult for kids, older adults, or anyone with limited mobility. Went with friends for a girl's getaway and the house lived up to all of the photos and descriptions. It's breathtaking. The house is beautifully constructed, with amazing, artistic lines. With perfectly placed windows, you are continually delighted by stunning views. The quiet location allows you to bask in nature and unwind from the outside world. We especially enjoyed the added extras - fabulous fire pit, challenging archery, and incredible movie theater with high end sound system and easy to navigate tech. The hammocks beckon you to sit and be still. The sitting area dining areas on the deck were the perfect place to enjoy time together. The furnishings and decor add to the aesthetic of a calming atmosphere. The bedding is really comfortable! Love that the owner paid attention to the small, meaningful details like providing eye masks (the loft room provides incredible views of stars and sun, but the mask helped be able to sleep in!) and toothbrushes, so you don't have to run to the local Food Lion for forgotten amenities. This was my 14th Grammie Trip with my grandkids. We always select a place that is unique & this was definitely that!! What an experience & wonderful trip. The A-frame was beautiful, the views were stunning and the activities at the house made our trip an experience we will not forget. The kitchen was filled with essential the Pots & Pans, they even surprised us with fresh eggs & milk from a local farm. The rooms & bathrooms were clean -- the views from each room is a special quality. The basement brought another surprise with the game & movie room. We used all parts of the home. My grandkids were thrilled and it kept them busy. The fire pit our way to wrap of the evening. The owners were always own contact when I had any questions and quickly helpful with any issues. I have stayed in. many airbnb & getaways and they topped the response time. A storm arose and they kept us in the loop on details. Local activities are not far away with in minutes.
