Spring Valley Campground — Hotel in Shirley

Well we arrived at 5 p.m. and no one was there to check us in. Some friendly people that live there came and helped us out, they were awesome! This is a very nice relaxing place to go they have a playground and pool for the children, bathrooms were clean but the shower and faucet water smelled weird 😕 Also I enjoyed walking along the trails, luckily the weather was great. We didnt get to fish, once my husband found out we had to throw the fish back he lost interest. Three cutie pies were doing free nails and my daughter and I totally love our nails!! (Thanks ladies 😙😙)There was a very cute beagal walking around and he was very friendly lol he even came by at midnight to check on us 😂😂. When we checked out today at 2 p.m. no one was in the office to take our payment, we waited awhile and eventually left. I would suggest they hire someone that does not mind sitting there until 9 p.m. because their 17 year old daughter apparently does not want to be stuck sitting in the office, she has some very handsome boys that enjoy her company 🏃‍♂️. I booked a cabin for my 30th birthday. At first when we checked in there was an ant infestation, I understand it's camping and bugs, but nobody wants to have to worry about ants crawling on them while sleeping or on food. When I brought the issue to management they told me there were no ants but I have pictures and videos to show other wise. We packed up and left. I have stayed there in the past and never had an issue but they weren't even willing to try to accommodate us. Just disappointed. And what I find funny is that when I email pictures of the ants everywhere they say" oh well you have no proof. " To say that we didn't say anything to the office was untrue as well. We scheduled the camp ground the end of April for Memorial Day weekend and unfortunately we had to cancel due to my husbands work schedule. I know that the campground doesn’t give refunds for holiday weekends but you can’t tell me that with a months notice that they will not be able to book that site. Most especially a full hook up site. I even agreed to pay double the cancellation fee $15.00/$30.00 but still would not give any refund. Most would at least offer 1/2 but not this campground - I have family that lives in the area and would consider camping there some other time but the owner wouldn’t even consider giving us a credit.
