All of the positive reviews are accurate based on my multiple stays in two different cabins over five years. I'll add that for a person who is sensitive to smells etc... this place is fantastic! No funny scents or chemical cleaners, yet very clean inside and well equipped if you want to do your own cooking. Can even get little goodies like wood or chocolate on site for a reasonable fee. Super peaceful at the end of a road with direct access to Lake Superior. Incredible views of nature. Gratefully, it's pet free, which is a refuge for those of us who are terribly allergic. My interactions with the owners are consistently warm, helpful and to the point. Very easy to deal with. Hot tip: Pick up pre made food / meals from New Scenic as you leave Duluth...
Read moreGooseberry Cabins was the perfect place for us! This was a first time north shore visit for both my friend and I. We stayed in cabin 4 and LOVED it! It was incredibly clean, super comfortable and very well appointed. Brand new, but had lots of charm and warmth. Julia did a fantastic job with decor and amenities. The view was amazing. We love to cook and were impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked. It was pretty cold during our trip, and the cabin stayed warm and cozy. All the cabins have great views of the lake. You can sit on the couch and watch the waves roll in. Location is ideal for exploring Gooseberry, Split Rock, and Tettegouche state parks. We are already looking for dates to return next fall so we can hit the Gitchi-gami bike trail. Our only complaint, and this is stretching a bit, is that the living room in our cabin could use a little side table or coffee table to place your wine after a long day...
