Great place. We made no reservation and had several websites available. We paid $ 20 a night, it was a very calm, quiet place, there were some people around, but very quiet. I recommend this place, I read about the bathroom, but I ended up not going to use it, so I don't know if it's really disgusting .. but waking up with several birds singing is wonderful, I recommend this place

Loved camping here so much that we're going back in a couple of weeks! Clean campgrounds and bathrooms. Sites are far enough away from each other for privacy, peace and quiet. We ran out of a few things but fortunately there's stores a few miles away. Very friendly and helpful park rangers. Boondocking at it's finest!

Nice little camp site on the river. The Nats were crazy tho, bring all of the bug repellant you have. Even a mosquitoe net hat would be a good idea.

We spent two days camping here and it was absolutely amazing. Super peaceful area. The campgrounds are spaced out nicely. There are vault toilets and the bathrooms are well kept. There are water pumps for water. Trash cans around camp, and a dumpster at the very entrance of the campground. Can accommodate tents/trailers/hike in. One camp ground is specifically for walk-in/bike in only. The campground is also well kept. It's a great place to explore history and nature. The park is open 24hrs. It is $15 to camp. There is firewood available for $5. It goes to a veteran. The rangers are super nice and helpful. We saw deer, black tailed jack rabbits, coyotes, and all kinds of birds. The Pony Express trail is marked along the road. We saw the northern lights, while camping there. A great place to relax, take the kids and let them explore. It is dog friendly. Please make sure to clean up after yourself and put your fires completely out. There is a nature trail that takes you to the Carson River. An incredible area to explore and spend time. We...

Samuel Buckland campground proved to exceed expectations. Gorgeous little valley, surrounded by attractive mountains. The campsites were clean, and well designed. The toilet was fine. Hot tip: I walked over a few extra hundred feet to the newer toilet at the adjacent group picnic site. The quick walk to the Carson river was a nice surprise, especially with Spring flows. This was a perfect spot to camp before embarking across Nevada on Highway 50 along the California Trail, which came right through this area, on my way to Great Basin National Park. Highly recommended, and somewhere i would stop again for sure, possibly even multiple days, if I had my mountain bike, or a seperate rig to drive to...

Beautiful old growth cottonwood grove with plenty of room and shade for everyone. Easy walk to the Carson River. Lots of history passed through this little valley. Ft. Churchill, the California Trail and the Pony Express Trail all ran right through the campground. Highly recommended. Restrooms are clean, dump station and portable water at the entrance. Nice picnic tables and fire rings...
