We stayed here in July of 2018. I booked this campsite after seeing all the amazing reviews. I should have done more research before selecting a campsite. We were in a tent and got spot 61. If you are in a tent and value privacy do not book any campsite between 11-70. It's a giant open area with a mix of tents, cabins and RVs. There is absolutely no privacy and the sites are centered in a loop. Most campsites are very open and packed with people. It was awful and nothing like we expected. There are some beautiful spots but of course they are taken up quickly. We could see the main road and campground store from our site, there is absolutely nothing that tries to separate the campsites. Three spots over from us was a camper and the guy staying there let his 3 very loud yappy dogs sit unattended all day in a doggy cage. I was complaining so loudy I think he heard me and the yappy dogs weren't left unattended anymore. There are tons of kids on bikes and constant screaming and noise. I mean I have a 9 year old myself so it's not like I'm against kids they were just riding around so much there was nothing to make me feel like I had a little slice of solitude. My idea of camping is more privacy, trees and feelings like I'm one with the woods. The best sites are probably 82-137 but even then they're not that private. I don't think I'll ever come back to this campground. On a positive note there were pay showers (one per bathroom) but one evening there was a big argument that broke out between 2 women over who was in line next. I mean one girl was screaming and broke down crying. It's chaotic and too busy here. However, there are a lot of beautiful waterfalls around if you drive up toward Port Ludlow. There is one gas station near the campground that has the necessities in stock. Don't plan of ever...
Read moreWe stayed here Friday to Sunday over a rainy winter weekend. We stayed in a one room cabin and loved it! The cabin itself was clean and SO cute! There was a covered porch out front with two adirondack chairs and a table that we put our stove on. When we arrived late at night, the porch light was on and the heat was on so it was cozy right away. We went hiking on Saturday and when we got back midday, there were 40-50 elk in the campground. We were told that they're there about every three weeks at this time of year so we felt lucky to get to see them. It was really fun to watch them eating and hanging out from in the cabin (we did have to wait awhile for them to wander away from our front door before going inside but a staff member was helpful and chatted with us about the herd while we waited). There was no one staying near us on Friday night but the cabins in our area were full on Saturday night. We didn't hear much noise from our neighbors though. Also, we were pretty close to the highway but the noise didn't bother us at all. We could only hear it when the occasional big truck drove by. As far as other amenities go, there is not a fridge in the cabin but there is electricity and outlets in the cabin, running water on the property, and...
Read moreI liked it but I didn't love it.
The pros: clean campgrounds, sufficient & friendly staff, clean bathrooms (2) the rest outhouses, enough garbage depositories, fresh water, open spaces, good for families (lots of children to play with) and a nice trail to get to the beach. Cons: Highway Noise!, sites close together, grass was overgrown (I mention this because of mosquitoes being very prevalent), planes flying overhead all hours of day & night, 1 shower for all the campsites, did I mention the highway Noise?
So if your a young family with children, don't mind camping in a fish bowl, don't mind traffic noise from the highway, planes/jets flying overhead frequently, music from your neighbors, children being children... sometimes screaming, riding their bikes and failing to yield to walkers, love the sound of youngsters playing in the river, have children that like to play in the river, stepping in elk dung in the open area and battling constant noise from 6 am to 3am, this is the place for you! Don't get me wrong, I like children, camping, rivers and wildlife but when it's all concentrated in a small area in a span of 2 days and you get little to no sleep, it can be...
