Most often I boondock so I can avoid being around other campers. I also feel safer boondocking. My daughter was flying in from CO to join me camping and requested a campground with a toilet.||||Paradise has reservable sites and a large number of first come sites. All are wonderful. Lots of vegetation, trees and space between the sites for privacy. Sites include a table and fire pit. Drinkable safe water and garbage containers provided. Each site is surrounded by old growth trees and many of the sites are river front. Site parking is paved. Several of the sites would be challenged to fit two vehicles. Firewood for sale at $7 per small bundle.||||I can't find enough words to express how much I loved my five day stay at Paradise campground. Like most USFS campgrounds it was originally created for tent campers. My 22' Class C would fit in every site. There are several pull through sites. I believe I saw two multiple group sites. On my walks I saw several Class A RV's. The majority of the campers were tent campers.||||This campground is next to the McKenzie River. The McKenzie River trail is next to the campground providing miles of beautiful scenery. On any given summer day one can watch guided rafters passing by. Hiking the trails one will see mountain bikers as this is a popular area.||||My cell coverage is Verizon. I was able to get two bars LTE. ||||Quiet time was 10PM and I found that campers respected this. Around quiet time walk to the open area by the river and watch the bats that come out in the evening to eat the bugs. I did not have to use bug/skeeter repellant. ||||Mask were require in the bathrooms and all campers I observed wore a mask. One area of the campground actually had flush toilets.||||Fire pits were clean, no litter around the area and bathrooms were spotless and stocked with paper.||||You can't go wrong visiting this park. Camping fee was $24 making it $12 with the Golden Eagle pass. Extra car charge was $8. I showed up on a Monday morning August 10 and found eleven open first come sites to...
Read moreYes it is a beautiful and clean campground. One concern relates to the logging across the river whose noise reverberates across the campground. The loggers start their horn signals at or before 0500 and continues throughout the day. Our 2 nights were interrupted at 0300 by their presumably blasting stumps. Needless to say, sleep was interrupted..but the biggest issue was the effect on our dog. We purposefully got out of town as the 4th was approaching to avoid fireworks, but to put us right in the middle of this situation. We had to lock him in the car. Not against the loggers at all!..they are doing honest, necessary and extremely dangerous work. But we feel campers should have advance notice via an Alert on Paradise Campground website of these activities while they are going on and the possible impact on campers for informed decisions.
Secondly, we searched the entire campground, but could not find any recycling containers..only the large dumpsters where fearfully all trash and recycling were dumped --turning potential recycling into trash. Not having recycling at such a famous campground...
Read moreParadise campsite was amazing. We were afraid we weren't going to get a spot because we left and arrived pretty late and a lot of their capsites are first come first serve. Luckily, there were spaces available and we landed in a pretty cool spot. The spots are secluded with a good amount of privacy. Overall, it was a pretty quiet spot other than the rafters you could hear joyfully screaming in the distance as they floated down the rapids. The camp host was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a couple extra ideas of things to do locally. River is super cold, which means it's easy to eacape from the heat even when not getting into the water because the wind hits the cold water and provides natures air conditioning. Bathrooms were extremely clean and toilets were flushing, which was a nice surprise. Good place to camp if you are planning on doing the...
