Homestead Inn Motel and Place RV Park — Hotel in Sloan

This place is a bit odd and seems to be in a phase of transition, it doesn't necessarily look like a motel from the outside and the signage is nearly absent, but we had a comfortable stay here in a room that was more like a little apartment, with a kitchenette, dining area, and a separate bedroom. It appears to be connected to an RV park, and the grounds also contain a coin laundromat (which was open) and a restaurant/lounge which don't appear to be open for business. The gas station next door has a lot of food and drink options.

The management was friendly and they appear to be trying to work out the kinks, so I think it's worth a stay. The room was clean and everything seemed to work except the wifi (they'd had a power outage earlier that day which may have been the issue). Would've liked to have explored the town of Sloan more but ran out of time, however the abandoned gas station across the road was fascinating. We were visiting the neighboring towns of Whiting and Hornick to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the filming of Children...

My Granddaughter and I got caught in the March 19th blizzard in Iowa between Sioux City and Sloan. A gentleman picked us up and we asked him to take us to the Homestead Inn and RV Park in Sloan, Iowa. Jade, the manager, took us in. Jade made sure we were warm and comfortable. She kept checking on us to see if we needed anything, food, water, etc. The owner went to check on our car, which up the road a bit. He then took us to retrieve our car. We couldn't have found more caring people. I couldn't thank them enough for all they did for us. Homestead Inn and RV Park has very nice rooms, they have recently been remodeled. Under new management who is sincerely interested in fixing the place up. Showing its age right now but they will improve. Give them a chance. Bed was surprisingly comfortable!!
