Bear's Paw Lodge — Hotel in Smithfield Township

This place was a great place for us to to gather as a family of 16 and celebrate an early Christmas. Claudia is excellent to work with and has put a lot of thought into sharing her home with those who are renting. The home is very inviting and comfortable. We will most likely rent here again. The driveway is the only down side that I can think of for this home. It is long and a pretty steep climb. It would only be a problem if there was snow and ice. We didn’t have bad weather and we’re thankful for that. However, having experienced Claudia’s hospitality I’m sure they have a good plan in place for when this does occur to make sure their guests can come and go safely. Thank you Claudia. We had the pleasure of spending this past weekend at Bear's Paw Lodge. This place exceeded all of our expectations. My husband and I have been renting vacation homes at the shore and in the mountains for over 30 years and this is by far the nicest. The kitchen was well stocked and top of the line, the living room huge with an amazingly comfy sofa. We were 8 adults so we only used 4 of the bedrooms so we each had our own bathroom and all reported that the beds were so comfortable. Bathrooms had great tubs and/or showers and were spotless when we got there. For that matter the whole lodge was really clean. On the weekend we were able to drive around and see different parts of Raystown Lake which was beautiful. Back at the lodge we hiked around the property and spent the rest of the time playing games, eating, watching March Madness, and enjoying each other's company. Everything about this home was perfect. We spent a Fall weekend at the beautiful Bear’s Paw Lodge in late October. Some of us went to the Penn State football game which was an easy 45 minute ride away. We were a cross generational group of 10 adults and 2 younger children. The lodge was spacious with large communal places to gather but also allowed for privacy with large bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms to accommodate our group. The lodge contained comprehensive, high end amenities in every category. There is nothing lacking in the way that the lodge was thoughtfully prepared. Claudia met us at the property and went over every detail concerning the way things worked and was available for follow up though we did not need to contact her. The view from the decks and porches, the warm fires that we enjoyed inside and outside of the lodge and the serene wooded setting of this spectacular lodge made for a wonderful Fall getaway for our family.
