First time here. Julia and Stan were nice hosts. The backyard and in ground pull were beautiful and relaxing. Breakfasts were served on outside patio, although very humid. There was inside seating but tables were not set and given no option. It was nice, I just do not care to be hot while eating. We did not ask to sit inside so that was on us. The home was extremely clean and you were asked to put on provided slippers and leave shoes at door upon entering. I did observe owners and help walking in shoes throughout. But most guests observed their request. The home was decorated in ornate decore. Now I can only speak for the room we booked, Jacuzzi Room with a View. This room is on lower level that opens to breakfast area a d French doors to patio and pool, which was very handy. Ther stairs run the size of bedroom and are very noisy as they creek bad. Room was warm in July, uncomfortable first night. Went and bought fan. Heard another couple telling owner same thing, owner offered a fan to them. We had already bought which was fine. The next day owner pointed out downstairs thermostat which also helped cool. Our bed was extremely soft, you literally sank. This was due to a 4 inch piece of foam, not memory foam, placed on top of saggy worn mattress. The sheets would not stay secure to top of bed due to sinking so| The foam made the bed hot. Several heavy covers on bed that would suggest winter bedding. We were disappointed to see there was no small personal refrigerator in room. They offered a full size comunal refrigerator in the dining room upstairs. We opened it and it looked like that is where the owners keep the food for guests breakfasts. My husband has meditation that needs to be refrigeratorated, so thankfully we travel with a small cooler because we were not comfortable placing our things in said refrigerator. Never encountered this at any other B&B before. Another thing that we never encountered and did not appreciate was the housekeeper touched our personal belongings!! We keep a neat room. Our bathing suits were placed to dry and she took them and folded them... still damp!! Personal items should not be touched. Also, the extremely small bathroom had a towel bar warmer on wall. We were not going to use it to produce more heat and I personally never overlap one person's towel with another's. So my husband's was on towel bar warmer and mine was hung nicely on another thin bar in bathroom to dry. The housekeeper took my towel and moved it to warmer bar, over top of my husband's! I do not mind using a towel for 2 days. So at first I thought she placed new ones even though we did not indicate we wanted new. But further checking, they were ours because they were still damp! Not happy, they should not have been touched or moved! And for hygiene reasons used towels should never touch. I think other rooms might be nicer and larger. But due to housekeeping touching personal things, I would not return. I'm sure she thought she was being helpful, as she was a nice person, but that didn't fly with...
Read moreI’ve stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years and this one has got to be the worst one yet. Let’s start with parking, their driveway is not big enough to accommodate many cars. The parking spaces are so small that people are parked over the lines. Plus, the fact that they have trees and tree branches growing into the spots is ridiculous, it makes it impossible to actually stay in once space. They really should get someone to trim the trees.
Secondly, once you get there, they shove slippers in your face that they want you to walk around the house in. They have very broken English, so I had no idea they wanted me to put them on as soon as we walked in the house.
Third, the bathroom was so outdated and the bed was way too soft. It was not comfortable at all! I slept horribly while staying there. Furthermore, there is no thermostat control in the room, so if you are too hot or too cold, you are out of luck because you cannot control the temperature in your room.
Now for the breakfast, it seemed like they just heat up frozen food, it’s definitely not made from scratch. Breakfast started with some fruit and mini quiches, the kind you buy in the freezer section at Walmart. Next came the, so called, omelette with chicken, that my husband and I had to share, it was more like an egg pizza. The egg was rubbery and tasted like it came premade from the refrigerator, it was awful. The sausage that accompanied it wasn’t any better, it tasted like the frozen brown and serve kind that they heated up in the microwave. Coffee was so bitter and they do not have creamer or half and half, they only had milk. Don’t expect to find any snacks around either. Most places have snacks for their guests, but not here. For the amount of money they charge per night, they shouldn’t be so cheap.
The topper was that the low when we were there was 40°, yet they still want you to have your breakfast outside on the chilly patio. It was not enjoyable at all sitting there shivering. Not sure why they are operating a bed and breakfast, yet they don’t seem like they really want people in their house.
If you want a really nice, hospitable bed and breakfast, I suggest The Rosemary Inn right over the bridge in Columbia, NJ. They really know how to take care of...
