It was Pioneer Days, 2015 and we were planning a family reunion a couple months out. But to our dismay, everything was booked, including the Owl Inn. We had contacted them earlier and were told they were booked, but the proprietor took our number and said she’d call if anything changed. So we had the family divided up across a couple places and then Owl Inn called back saying they had a cancellation…and we quickly booked them up.||||The house itself is at the end of a short dirt road and nestled into the hillside. The landscaping is beautifully done. The Owner’s removed enough trees to open it up, but not so much to lose the charm. They have a well maintained lawn that wraps around the house and weaves through the trees. The lawn has several large flat areas…with one area set up for volleyball. There are a couple fire pits tucked in the trees, and a hammock is hidden in a grove for some great napping.||||The interior is done nicely as well. We had the entire house with 28 people sleeping with even more over for visits. It looks like the house can be set up to divide several smaller groups. It has three levels; a basement, main, and upstairs. The basement has a couple private rooms, two bathrooms, a large open gathering room with bunk beds against the wall, and a well-appointed kitchen. The main level has the master suite with a king bed, the main kitchen, laundry, pantry, living, dining, & sitting rooms. Upstairs is a game room with a pool table, and lots of bedrooms & bathrooms. Some bedrooms are private, some are open to a loft. Most have more than one bed in them. The bed sizes are mostly queen, with a few twins & singles tucked in the corners. ||||One of the best things we found was the ample bathrooms. Even with a large group and so many girls & ladies, nobody had to wait on a bathroom. And they are huge! The owners have thoughtfully left soap & shampoo out, and there are plenty of towels.||||The beds were comfortable enough. We had a few complaints of “too hard” or “too soft” but nothing major…who sleeps during a family reunion anyway?||||There is a lovely front porch that is shaded in the morning and it’s a wonderful place to sit with coffee and look at the beautiful flowers, or gaze across the valley. The back deck is uncovered and has a propane BBQ. We had some great grilling back there. The main kitchen is a bit tight and hard to cook meals for 30, but the downstairs kitchen is large and we were able to split the tasks up and easily got all meals out on time. Between the two, there are three refrigerators, two ranges, two microwaves & two dishwashers. Plenty of cookware & dishes.||||For our group, although there were plenty of beds, we still had a few people on air mattresses. We had a mix of family units and older singles and there wasn’t quite enough private rooms for all. But no complaints…I was amazed at how easily we fit everybody. We liked how the different levels are separate…connected by wide, but enclosed stairs. This allowed different groups to have different noise levels. The upstairs tended to be louder with the little ones, the main was quieter, and the teens & colleagues hung out downstairs. There is wifi throughout, several TVs with Netflix and DVD players and a small library of DVDs.||||Overall it was a grand experience and the Owl Inn was a huge part of the success of our family reunion. This is a great property and if you have a need for a vacation rental in this area, you’d be remiss if you didn’t check availability of the Owl Inn. It’ll exceed your...
Read moreI feel very strongly that the pictures do not do this house justice. We held our family reunion this year at the Inn at Owl Hollow and it could not have been more perfect.||The exterior of the house and the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. I loved the wild landscaping in the front yard and the stone walkway leading to the front porch. There was plenty of room outside for the kids to play and they never felt the need to wander off the property.||The inside of the house was absolutely immaculate. Everywhere felt clean, fresh, and new. And there is so much space! All twenty-seven members of my family could gather easily in any of the three available family rooms and not feel crowded. My nieces called the house "the Mansion". (The only small room is the half bath and it's adorable. It has the cutest corner sink I've ever seen.)||The amenities were more than I could have ever imagined and it made the house feel like home. The kitchen had every utensil and tool we needed for cooking our meals and the miscellaneous pantry items that are always useful. And more than enough refrigerator space (one in each kitchen, one in the pantry). We loved the versatile cooking options. Pizza for lunch in the ovens and dinner of tin foil dinners in the fire pit and on the grill. There were books, movies, a pool table, and even a puzzle to keep everyone entertained if the weather had been rainy. There were plenty of towels (and they were luxurious) and a comfortable bed for everyone to get a pleasant night's rest. (Once the cousins settled down, of course.)||The first evening, part of our group drove the short distance to Lava Hot Springs. Other than that, there was plenty to do at the house. My sister organized a volleyball tournament on the second day and the boys played basketball.||It was an absolute pleasure working with the owners. It is obvious that they have put a lot of love into this house. We felt very well taken care of. It was very hard for us to leave. My family can't wait until we...
Read moreThe Inn at Owl Hollow was the nicest place we have ever stayed at for our yearly family reunion. As grandparent's, it was especially important for us to be in one very large house so that all of our children and grandchildren could be together. All of the hugs and "I love you's" we received were especially fun and seemed to happen around each corner of the house! The Inn was clean and spacious and our teenage grandchildren loved the Pool Table! They also had a lot of fun playing Volley Ball. Each family had their own space because there are so many bedrooms and bathrooms. Our 4 granddaughters had a slumber party on the floor each night in the Billiards room. At night, we had a bonfire, made Smores and told stories. Because of the Chesterfield Reservoir located about 1/2 hour away, our fishermen came home with big trout for dinner. There are about 3 Golf Courses within a 1/2 hour drive, so our golfers were happy! Of course, Lava Hot Springs, being only about 7 minutes away was the real reason we chose this Inn plus it came highly recommended from a friend. It was so nice having the whole place all to ourselves! The cost to reserve it for three nights was very reasonable, compared to other places we have stayed at. || We did all of our own cooking, so other than taking all of our own food, everything else was provided for us. We did take our own laundry soap and dryer sheets, plus extra TP and paper towels [even though these were provided as well.] Also, since we knew we would have a bonfire each night, we took extra wood.|| Thank you again Taryn, for allowing us to stay in such an amazing family-friendly house and the trust you had in...
