Free camping is hard to come by, but this place is it. It's off the beaten path. Abt 10 miles of dirt road off Rt 9. 14 day limit on camping. Donation welcome. Environmental Police come by abt once a day. No on site water, but there is a spring just up the road. In closed porta potty buildings. Bring a generator for if yr powering a camper. Hiking trails, swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, cooking grills at the Reservoir. Beautiful area. Great place to take the family. Love this place, have been going...

While this place can get roudy It's mostly a field. Something I need for my solar and starlink. There are pit toilets. No potable water. Water is at the river. My preferred spot is by an apple tree that has a path to the river.

While the river was quite low I found a few spots you could soak. Kids wouldn't have a problem. The best place to swim is a short walk out to the bridge. There is a site nearby that offers a bit more privacy for those not wanting to...

WARNING

I went here a couple days ago, 4/14/2023, and it seemed to be completely closed. There was a handmade sign at the dirt road spur that said “ROAD CLOSED RESIDENTS ONLY” but I ignored that and went on to the campsite, where the gate into the site was closed and there were no parking signs all around the outside. If anyone has more information please...

Primitive camping. Vault toilets only. No drinking water sources. Carry in carry out. Be bear safe with your food and mindful that there are few rangers and less medical help. Closest walk in clinic is Brattleboro 90 minutes away. Whith all that said... Unmatched beauty. 3 miles from Somerset lake.
