Our family used the Big Cabin for a 3-night stay in early September the first date the lodge can be reserved daily. It slept two couples and 3 adult men (7 total) very comfortably. The shared spaces (dining room, kitchen, family room) had ample space for our family to gather. Outdoor accommodation such as the deck, fire ring area, and game room all had ample space for our family. ||We arrived to find the property clean and ready for our stay. There was nothing unexpected or lacking in the accommodation. Grandparents and parents stayed in the two larger downstairs rooms while the single kids stayed in the upstairs rooms. Everyone had privacy. ||We brought all of our own food and beverages and prepared our own meals or brought prepped meals. In a pinch, the associated market down the street had lots to offer but a stop at Walmart or Meijer in West Branch is recommended for larger selections. ||We used a canoe livery in Grayling for a 3-hour custom canoe trip upstream from the property, choosing to avoid the Conner's Flat section between Wakeley Bridge and McMasters Bridge. Our stay was during the river "shoulder season" and we saw almost no traffic on the river except some local fly fishing guides with customers. ||The game room building was the biggest and most pleasant surprise. This building seems quite new and is filled with a pool table, shuffleboard, numerous bicycles, badminton set, and dart board. The sauna also seemed new and worked flawlessly. ||WiFi provided uninterrupted high-speed Internet connectivity covering the entire property and there were a multitude of options on satellite TV, but honestly, we didn't come here for that. We watched Sunday football and the TV was off the rest of the time. We brought our own board games but there were many in-house to choose from.||If there were any complaints, it would be limited to the cleanliness of the oven, refrigerator, and some dust on the fan blades over the dining area. Otherwise the property seemed very clean. The only item we found lacking in the kitchen was a hand mixer, but we borrowed one from the manager at the market - Thank you! The beds, bedding, and pillows were "world class" - among the best I've experienced in a rental or hotel.||If you seek a peaceful setting surrounded by natural beauty while enjoying clean and modern accommodations and amenities, you've found the...
Read moreWhen looking to stay around Grayling/Au Sable river this resort definitely is one of the better options around. It isn't an inexpensive option, but it was very nice and most all of the details were well covered by the owners. We stayed in Hendrickson which seems to have been completely redone in the past 4-5 years. It was completely clean and not a spider or cobweb to be found which surprised us.
While the pictures of Hendrickson don't show it, there is a table and three chairs to use for eating. The only thing the cabin is missing is some sort of lounging chair to relax in. There isn't a lot of room for one but we brought a couple of outdoor chairs that we used in the cottage. It would be nice to have some counter space in the bathroom besides the window sill. Internet worked well and there was also a TV and DVD player and supposedly Satellite TV which we didn't try (you can't see the TV or DVD player in the pictures).
There were plenty of cooking utensils and pans, etc. and we made a couple of meals in the cabin.
There are phone numbers to call if you have issues but you really self service for basic needs.
We would go back when time allows...
Read moreGreat, clean place to stay with all the amenities one could need for the weekend. We stayed 2 nights and canoed down the river Saturday. It's fairly conveniently located if you are visiting Grayling to do a river activity, i.e canoe, kayak, tube float, etc.,probably a 15 minute drive from town (Grayling). There were 8 beds available and two 3/4 bathrooms. There was a/c, although quite underpowered for the size of the area it was to cool, but there were fans mounted in each sleeping nook so that's better than nothing. My advice, take the beds closest to the a/c if you want to sleep cool! The only thing we weren't thrilled about was the fact that the "lodge" we stayed in was atop of the general store and not out and away from the road but we also had 8 guys so our choices were limited. Location wasn't the greatest but it was clean and very nice so I'd have to say if we needed the space again we'd stay here...
