I first started coming here about 6 years ago. Since then, my friends and I make sure to take at least a few days every year to make it down here. It is a beautiful area with lots of rock formations that you can easily climb and enjoy those gorgeous desert sunrises/sunsets or look at the stars and milky way. The actual campground is a cool rock formation that can accommodate quite a few people. Your other option is to continue driving down the road and there are plenty of pull offs where you can camp for free. There is some wildlife in the area, but we have never been bothered. There are also outhouses which is very nice. I would highly suggest coming in the late spring or early fall when temps are not too...

Gorgeous view, but very basic campground. You could camp free just down the road at any number of pull offs. We chose the campground thinking it would be easier for our camper, but the road is difficult for a larger camper, I would not recommend any camper over 22 feet and with some ground clearance. Also there are only a couple sites that can fit anything more than a standard size car. In the end however we very much enjoyed camping here and the road out of the back of the campground makes for...

Get there early as it's first come first serve and it's pretty busy. There are tables and fire pits but absolutly no wind cover. We tried to cook hotdogs on our propane grill but the wind was so bad we couldn't get them fully heated. Spaces a very close to the other campers and there isn't much to do very close to this site. There are portable bathrooms but no water. This was just a "meet up" spot for us before going out to...

One of the more picturesque campgrounds I've stayed at. Campsites are all located in hollow alcoves within the rock formation so you feel very private with the rocks separating you from the adjacent campers. Fun scrambling for kids (and adults alike). It's popular so spots are limited and first come first serve. There is free BLM camping available too further down the road in the canyon.

It’s like camping with the Flinstones! Beautiful red rocks shaped like burgers that you can climb! The views are beautiful. It was very empty in July.. with only one other site occupied. No hookups so need to be self sufficient. $15 fee per night at Dropbox. Half price with senior annual card. So fun!!
