With a $109 US price for one night I would expect that room and hotel would’ve been better. I was also not impressed with the $25 US charge for having a pet! My dog leaves way less mess then someone’s child! This was more like a money grab but we needed a place to stay and this was all that was nearby. The night staff behind the front desk was polite but she sounded like a recording when she was naming the items we needed to know, like check out time, etc. She also did not know how to us our prepaid MasterCard so I had to use my regular credit card to charge the room. This was frustrating. When we entered the door at the end of the hotel near our room on the ground floor, we were greeted by an unpleasant smell. That smell carried on into the public hallway. There was an air freshener plugged in the wall socket nearby but it did nothing to mask the smell. Fortunately, the smell did not carry on into the room, which appeared clean but when looking closer you can see where housekeeping cut corners. There was a left over soap on the upper part of the shower surround from previous customers. Who knows how long it’s been there since it was round and the soap provided for us was rectangular. The trim around the inside of the bathroom door near the floor looked like a science project. There is a need for continued maintenance in the room like the toilet that rocks when you sit on it. It takes so little to steady this! The cold water never got cold. It was more hot then cold and the fixtures were warn out and noisy. Worst of all... the entry door for the hotel room had to be lifted to have the latch fall into the door jam to be able to keep it shut. It no longer lined up so anyone coming along from the hall could easily just push it open if someone in the room didn’t notice this. The exit door to outside was not secure at anytime. Anyone from off the street could’ve gained access to the hotel this way. Security was a big issue here! While trying to get to sleep we remembered why we like motels instead of hotels. Who ever was in the room above us was pacing for a few hours with the loudest footsteps and also dropped many things that would land with a loud bang. How thin are the floors/ceilings for this to be an issue!?The stairwell near our room was also loud with voices echoing. The morning breakfast provided was varied and appeared fresh but the space was cramped and made it difficult to get around the small church bus tour that was in the breakfast area at the same time. I would not recommend...
Read moreThey are the only Hotel in Sparta and it shows. I arrived at 3:30 and the lady at the desk was Jill. She was on the phone. It took her a good 2 minutes to acknowledge that I was there and then another 2 minutes to get off the phone. It felt like a personal call with a coworker. Check in was at 3:00, We got there at 3:30 and our room wasn't done. It wasn't too long a wait after though. I was immediately turned off by the lack of professionalism shown by Jill. She showed her frustration with the cleaning staff and blamed them for not knowing if our room was ready. She did however, give us a helpful map to the Ark. Our refrigerator appeared to have been frozen and thawed out and had black stuff in the back. The toilet was hard to flush and had to pull the handle up each time or water wouldn't load in the tank. Other than those two things, the room was clean and the beds nice. The reason we chose this hotel and not one closer to the Ark Encounter was for the pool. The pool was cloudy. The hot tub wasn't hot and the temperature adjuster didn't work. The hot tub water had a yellowish tint. Jill had told me that there should be towels in the pool area and if there were not we should let her know. However, when I approached her she made a joke that I should've brought by own and her body language implied I was bothering her. The 2nd night, my mother had to ask Jill for towels again and she blamed the housekeeping staff. It's okay to be upset with your staff...it's not okay to make your guests feel bad for you though. That was my biggest complaint with her, lack of professionalism. The breakfast consisted of a good variety. The morning staff running it kept it stocked and was friendly. The lady who ran the bistro was also nice. The morning receptionist was friendly and helpful. Overall, I was disappointed in the deception of the pictures here online vs. reality and the lack of professionalism shown by a main front receptionist. I hope another hotel comes to Sparta....perhaps the competition would encourage this Ramada to up it's game. I doubt I would...
Read moreEverything smells. Non smoking room smells like smoke and mildew. Found lots of questionable stains and a hair on sheets and blankets. I called front desk to request new ones. Jill was rude at check in but then told me no bc she didn't had help. I told her I was more than willing to come down and grab them to change myself. She reluctantly agreed. I went downstairs through the gross smelling and stained carpet stairs. I waited for her to get done checking in guest. She sees me and walks to the back without saying anything. She brings me 2 folded sheets. I ask for some new pillowcases too. She told me she didn't have any. That was concerning. I asked for 2 more sheets then and she told me I would have to wait while she finished doing a check in. I waited for another 10 mins bc she was short staffed. She was not happy getting me 2 more sheets for the other bed with questionable clean sheets. I get back to my room and pull the covers down to change them and found blood stains on the comforter. I called down and told her I need 2 new covers. She told me they didn't have any. I told her I was leaving and will need my money back and she told me I could only get that through expedia since that was how I booked it. I told her I needed a number to call and complain about my experience and she said too bad she couldn't help me. I asked to speak to her boss and she said Jeff is coming in the morning and I could talk to him. I am now awake in this nasty hotel at 230am in the morning bc I'm cold and refuse to put the nasty blanket on my bed. P.s. I also asked for Lysol to make the room smell better and She didn't have any but it's alarming they don't have any pillow cases or Lysol avaible when I ask bc to me that means they don't do either in...
