My husband and I stayed at Rim Rock Lodge Spruce Cabin July 11-13, 2024. Our stay was above and beyond our expectations. The property is just 15 minutes from downtown Spearfish yet secluded in Spearfish Canyon, close to several hiking trails and waterfalls. We did not arrive until after 7:00pm, but the owners Geoff and Lori both greeted us with smiles and spent ample time orienting us to their beautiful historic property. They led us in their golf cart to the cabin as we followed in our car as well as offered to assist with luggage. The cabin is exactly as pictured online. The furnishings are beautiful and the cabin was immaculate. The owners made sure that they had turned the air conditioning on and had the cabin nice and cool for our arrival. They also gave us a basket of grilling tools, dishes, dish soap, etc. We did not lack for anything. My favorite part was after the sun went down, we sat in our own private outdoor space watching fireflies and stargazing at the millions of stars in the dark sky. The lodge does not have wifi at the cabins, but it is available in the area near guest registration that has ample seating both inside and out. In the mornings, we were provided a continental breakfast buffet. It had great variety and even had offerings for anybody needing gluten free options. On the morning that we checked out, we had to leave really early (before breakfast was out), but Geoff was out and offered to give us coffee to go. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests’ stays perfect. I would not hesitate to...
Read moreWe stayed here on July 4th in the Tatanka Suite. It was the first reservation that the owners took using Tripadvisor and we arrived at 10pm in a driving rain storm, so there was a little problem finding the checkin area. Jeff and Lori were sincerely apologetic and got us all set up. Because of the confusion, in the morning, they gave us a goody bag of snacks and wine which again was a sincere gesture. ||The Rim Rock Lodge is surrounded by canyon walls with a creek running through it. It is so beautiful. The lodge offers suites at the base level and cabins a little higher up in the canyon. We stayed in a suite which was upscale, very neat, and rustic. It includes a large bedroom, a kitchenette, and a nice bathroom. Also, there is a large deck with seating for at least 4, a bbq grill, and a fantastic view of the canyon. I walked up to the cabins and they had amazing views of the canyon. ||In the morning, breakfast is set out in the main cabin. There was fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, pastries, coffee, tea, juice etc. Everything to get you you nourished for the morning. The hosts gave us a history of the place which was fascinating. They also provided us with sites to see and directions. ||The lodge also has a little store or canteen with everything you would need to make dinner as well as souvenirs from local artisans. ||We were thoroughly impressed with the accommodations and more with the hospitality and genuineness of the owners. I hope I have the chance to travel to the Black Hills. We know where...
