Amazing fishing destination - highly recommend. We drive from 9 hours south on the southern MN border and wouldn't choose to go anywhere else for LOTW ice fishing. We've gone through Arnesen's for the last 5 winters straight on a 4 night, 3 day fishing package with day shacks and a cabin on shore. We've had midweek and weekend trips in both January and February. Its been an absolute blast every single year. Service is top of the line. Knowledgeable and friendly team of guides willing to help in any way to make your trip enjoyable. Clean well cared for cabins, bombers, and ice houses. Fish cleaning house is large and well setup, or you can pay $1/fish to have your fish cleaned if you're willing to wait longer for your fillets. If you have them clean your fish, then be willing to either eat late or have a different meal planned. Guides are extremely busy in the evening getting everyone off the ice and cleaning all the fish. Fish cleaning house is much busier on the weekends and it pays to come in at the 4 pm pickup if you plan on cleaning your own fish that night. Full kitchen with full size refrigerator in the cabins with everything you need to prepare & cook meals if you so choose. All you need to bring is your food. Town is a twenty to thirty minute drive depending on the weather. The lodge is awesome. Full bar, restaurant, bait shop, and gift shop. Its very busy so be sure to make reservations for your whole trip on the day you check in or you may not get a table right away. They'll cook your fresh catch for you with choice of salad and potato for $12 a plate, and the breading is awesome. Just bring in your bag of fillets ready to cook. We usually eat a meal in the cabin the first night, our fish at the lodge two nights, and then order off the menu the last night. Menu is top of the line super club level quality. Never had a bad meal in the lodge with everything from burgers to steaks and seafood. The prime rib doesn't disappoint. Last trip was Jan of 2021 and we opted to get carry outs instead of eating in the lodge each night. We dropped our fish off with the list of side orders for 8 guys, and they called us at the cabin when it they were boxing the order up. Same for off the menu order the last night. They always got the orders correct and the food was hot and delicious. Staff is always friendly and accommodating to any requests. There are coffee pots in the cabins, however for just a few dollars each morning you can fill a large thermos at the lodge to take with you for the day. ...

Not all of my reviews are of the Summer variety, Dear Readers. Every year I have to put the Burger Hat into the closet and bust out the bomber hat. This time around we are talking ice fishing.||||I have been fishing most of my life, and as such have enjoyed many resorts across the great state of Minnesota. Every one has a little something different to offer and I am happy to report that Arnesen's is one of the finest setups I have enjoyed.||||Last year, my buddies and I went up here to enjoy a little bro time and wet some lines. This year we brought our kids. And they LOVED it. While last year we went rather late in the season, this time around we hit it the weekend before Christmas. Nice way to start the Holiday break for the kids. They got off the school bus and away we went! ||||While we did not stay at the resort (we stayed close by) all of the service and work they did was outstanding. They set you up really well here.||||The houses are rather bare bones. This isn't fishing in an ice castle with your fire place on and watching the game on the TV from a recliner. Its fishing. Metal folding chairs (bring a pad if you might get tired of that) a little stove, a bucket of bait (provided) and maybe a few tips. While you can rent some gear from them, we were pretty well outfitted to start with. ||||The fishing was fine. It wasn't great, but we took home 30 between our group. Nice mix of some really nice sided Saugers and Walleye. The bite was frequent enough to keep the kids engaged.||||We even got a few Eel pout! ||||Beyond fishing, everyone at the lodge was incredibly friendly. The bar and wait staff were great, the food was delicious and we could not be happier with our stay. While (in general) I prefer to kind of... set my own hours and transport to and from fish houses, they run guests out in their own vehicles. When its time to head out, they take you. When its time to come in, they pick you up. Sometimes this is a little crummy because you might feel like you are missing out on a prime bite or something, but it's fine. If being in control of your own schedule is big on your list of priorities, this might not be the resort for you. That said, we still had a blast.||||We might be making this an annual trip. Maybe if we get so bold with the boys we will rent a sleeper next time, who knows!||||If you find yourself looking for a place to catch some fish at lake of the woods, Arnesen's is a hell of a place to start. ||||Till next time, friends. Get out there and...

Made a reservation for a weekend ice fishing trip with my boyfriend as a Christmas gift, was told we would be staying off sight. Once we got to the sight we realized it was in someone's home in their basement. The owners of the home were very nice but we slept on a futon and they had Christmas music playing all night outside the window, along with the owners walking back and forth up stairs which equals no sleep. After arriving Friday night we went to eat in the restaurant which was not adequately staffed for the rush and also with the horrible service and not so great food there were plenty of very intoxicated/loud restaurant customers. We were able to talk with the girl and the front desk and reduce our stay from two nights to one, which is much appreciated...but was hoping for an enjoyable weekend away in Minnesota after driving for 5 1/2 hours. The next morning we were up early and at the pick up point by 6:30 to go out fishing, the guides were polite and took us to our ice house only to set up and get comfortable and then be told we would have to move houses due to their mistake of putting us in the wrong house. After we moved to another house the guides checked in on us periodically, we didn't get many fish due to the cold front that moved in but the fishing was fun. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the fishing part of our trip but the Kramers cottage is not a stay I would recommend to anyone wanting a weekend away from the kids. If I wanted to stay in my parents basement I can go visit and stay for free not something that should be promoted as an off sight stay, it should be fully disclosed that this room is in someone's home. During checkout I did ask if I could suggest this to the young girl that made the reservation and I was confronted with a very large attitude. I will not be recommending this resort to anyone I know!! VERY...

I called, and do to my negligence called too late for a spot in an ice house for me and a friend, they were booked up for ice fishing. I love to see business busy, especially during a pandemic. They did take my name in case something became available, which happened and they called me back, since something became available.. . We stayed one night in one of their glorious cabins. It had a kitchen, so we made a small meal. Later that evening, they turned on the Northern Lights for us, all the way up to a KP of 7.3. The viewing was magnificent! The next morning the crew took us to an ice house, where the walleye were a little finicky and didn't want to bite. They crew, on their second stop by to check up on us, suggested that we move to another house, where we ended up catching many walleye and sauger! We missed a lot too. It helped that we listened to their advice on how to catch the "'eyes", as my friend and I don't claim to be experts! In the afternoon we asked if they could put us onto some Northern Pike, and they did! Our flags kept going up all afternoon. We missed a lot of pike, but we caught some.... What a great stay at Arnesen's! I highly recommend them. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The views of the Aurora Borealis are spectacular as well, when applicable. They respect Veterans too, which I appreciate...

Staff was great, rooms were nice but furnishings could use a little work. Was very bare bones. (Though I am sure they mostly get hordes of bachelor groups who don't care) There were more kitchen supplies such as cups, plates, cooking utensils, silverware and stuff that I completely didn't expect. The cabin we stayed in did have Dish so it was nice to have music on or a movie in the background. They were out of firewood and we had to drive 25 minutes to get firewood. The fire pit was in a very strange location and we only used it once. Their booklet said there was volleyball, basketball, and shuffleboard but we didn't see any of that anywhere. Otherwise I'd have added photos. All in all I would love to come back. I wanted to make sure to add some pictures of the rooms. Since there aren't any here on Google. Lots of fishing pictures, which is out on the lake NOT the resort itself.
