When I initially posted a review I was chewed out by Jay. I felt forced into removing it as I had not received my refund and only had his word.
Pros: Pool
Cons: Unprofessional and unprepared Dirty/unkept
---Our experience--- The trip was 08/02-08/05. It was initially 6 people at the last minute it wa down to 4. Reservations were made early April.
In April I called to book and they asked for $200 of the $338 upfront. I realized as the event approached they had taken my money but I had not received any confirmation. I called and ask for a receipt for the $200 and a confirmation of my reservation. Several times I was told someone would call me back. A week before our trip I was finally able to talk to someone that was able to confirm my reservation.
The trip arrived and I called to say I may be late and Ashley said it would be fine and to call when we got to town. We were 25 min out and I called, a man answered and in a gruff tone told me to call back when I got there and hung up. Jay met with us and was very adamant that under no circumstance were we to contact him until 9am and at that time we were to go to the office if we needed anything.
At check in Jay told us we would still have to pay another $171 when we paid a deposit of $200. With military discount and 6 people I was told $138 was remaining. He refigured the total and there was still a discrepancy. When refiguring he charged per guest, which in theory with 2 less guests it would be cheaper. We were staying in their biggest and most expensive cabin at $80+ a night that was supposed to sleep 6.
He gave me 2 keys and said choose which cabin we liked better cabin A or B. The dry erase board in the office it said cabin A needed cleaned, cabin B said a name, and cabin C-E were ready but I thought maybe it hadn't been updated. We opened cabin B and there was stuff in it of the people staying in there.
We went to cabin A and it was uncleaned. When we opened the door we were greeted by a group of flies. There were supposed to be 4 mattresses and one was missing (we were told that morning one of the beds was broken.) The broken bed was the bottom of a bunk bed so not only was a mattress missing but it was unsuitable for use. The mattresses were like the really old 50s mattresses that now are boxsprings with a little padding. The refrigerator had a red residue coming out onto the floor. The whole cabin was humid and the sofa was sticky.
We tried calling him within 20 min and he did not answer but allowed it to go to voicemail. We had to find another place to sleep seeing as there was only 2 functional beds and 4 of us.
Before leaving we all went to the bathroom seeing as we had been on the road all day. The ladies bathroom smelled of sulfer (which is typical for a lot of camping places.) When I went to wash my hands I noticed spots in front of the sink that were sinking as if there was a water leak destroying the floor and vinyl flooring was placed on top.
We checked into a hotel and decided to shower and start fresh the next morning.
We returned to S&H at 9:30am on Thurs and Jay was not there so I spoke to Ashley who said she would have to talk to Jay (the owner) about a refund and he would call us that day. By 7 He had not called us so we headed over there. When we got there we were informed we had missed him by just a few min and that he was up at the mansion overlooking the campground. Fri a.m. I called again and it went straight to voicemail. Finally at lunch I was able to talk with him. He agreed on a refund to reverse charges and said it would be in the account by Mon.
On Sat 08/04 I received a voicemail asking what my decision on the refund was. I guess there was service issues and the voicemail was from Friday. When I returned the call he answered promptly and he proceeded to yell at me for putting a negative review up. He claimed I was "smearing his name" and "not allowing him to rectify the issues."
S&H ruined the first day of our vacation and then proceeded to do so up until we left Indianapolis. I hope they improve their...
Read moreWe reserved this campground for 13 weeks for a work contract with such high hopes based on photos and their Facebook page. We were sorely disappointed once there and very upset that we had to prepay for the entire stay or we would have left. The RV sites are so tight that we could clearly hear our neighbors inside of their camper and got no sleep when they were outside at all hours of the night talking next to our bedroom. S&H is all gravel and the roads are DUSTY or super muddy and bumpy. The roads and sites are poorly maintained. Everything outside was covered constantly in dust (despite our rinsing things off) due to cars passing by. People fly around this campground, especially teenagers on golf carts and people at night who are very loud. Our site was directly behind the owners house and his daughter almost hit my young son twice with a golf cart because she was flying out of their driveway and paying attention to her boyfriend instead of the road. Upon arrival our fire pit was full of weeds and old faded beer cans that had clearly been there awhile. I cleaned the fire pit out at the beginning of our stay and it wasn’t weedeated until 12 weeks into our stay. My family loves to swim but we didn’t get in this pool for our entire 13 week-stay. The pool company was there multiple days every week trying to get it to par but it was disgusting. The water was so brown that it stained our shower and took a lot of CLR and scrubbing to get it clean. We had two filters online and both were changed frequently and came out very brown everytime. Our dogs have never had a problem drinking campground water but we had to start buying gallons of water for them because one got sick immediately after we got there. We switched him to purified water and his stomach troubles went away.
Our first power bill was for two weeks and they said we owed $175. When questioned we were told that bill was correct but we took a picture of the meter back to the office and proved that it was read wrong (and it decreased to $30). Several extended stay campers had issues with their power bills being read wrong and we all came to find out that we were being charged very different rates per month for our sites.
For this large of a campground there was only one washing machine and one dryer. The washer could only be ran at half a load on cold so we found a laundry mat close by (highly recommend Green Meadows Laundry in Greenfield). The family fun park is an average of $14/person/day with rude teenagers who don’t pay attention to the kids that they are operating the rides for. Less than half of the rides were open at any given time during their open hours. There were multiple different occasions that the police were in and out of this campground and atleast two different people were arrested at different times (one by US Marshal’s).
I booked this campground for our 13 week stay because at the time it had old reviews that were decent and clearly outdated pictures. I attempted to book other campgrounds that were closer to the hospital I was contracted for but this was the only place with availability (and now I know why). I loved the hospital I was at but did not renew my contract because there was not another campground in the area that could accommodate our rig for an extended stay. We were not renewing to stay here again. Greenfield is a great town but do yourself a huge favor and do not...

This is going to be a very long story, so bear with me.
My husband travels all over the country for work, and we have lived in a rig for 5+ years. With that, we’ve stayed in at least 100 Campgrounds / Parks. We came to the Indy area to work on a long term contract. About a month into our stay, a storm came through, and a straight line wind knocked a 40ft+ tall tree onto the top of our rig. I was trapped inside with my animals for a hour before police and the power company determined it was safe for me to come out. No staff came to check on me during this time. Once I was out, and everyone was safe. The owner made and appearance, he didn’t ask if I or anyone else was okay. He really didn’t care at all. He didn’t try to help us. He only made it very clear our insurance would be footing the bill for all damage to our rig, and paying for the tree service to remove the tree.
While the tree service was removing the tree from our rig, I went into the general store on the property to purchase something to drink. The staff member working there proceeded to complain about the power being off and make a joke about “some giant tree that fell on someone’s camper”.
After the tree was removed we began the process with insurance. Once our insurance received the invoice from the tree company, they found that the owner was trying to get our insurance to not only pay for the tree that fell on our camper, but also the clean up of the tree in general areas surrounding our site: i.e. the ditch behind our lot, the neighboring lots, etc. We contacted the tree service and were told that the owner of the campground wanted it done that way, and hoped Insurance just “wouldn’t notice.”
After the incident with the tree, we started looking into rentals immediately, because our rig had to go into the shop to repair the now punctured lining and dented frame of our roof. We had a bit of trouble finding a rental initially, and we’re already planning on staying there throughout the winter, and had been told in the off season, that lot rent decreases by approx. $300-$400. We asked several times about how much exactly it would decrease and when that would be happening, and we’re given the run around by the owner and office workers.
In the end, we found a rental, and paid for an additional week on 10/8/23, Sunday, so we could get everything moved out of it, and get the rig ready to go to the shop. We came back Saturday, 10/14/23, to deep clean the rig, and were approached by the owner asking if we were leaving that day, because we were supposed to be out by 10/13/23, which would have been Friday. He argued with my husband for 20 minutes stating we didn’t pay for a week. By the end of it, we were so exhausted, we just ended up pulling it out that day. Come to find out, we did pay for a week, I have the receipt, we weren’t supposed to have it out of there until 10/15/23. However he had already sold the spot for the next month, and the people who were supposed to go there were sitting in the road by the office, as he argued with us.
Point of the story is, the man who owns this campground is probably: the greediest, rudest most despicable human being I’ve ever met. Please avoid this place like the plague unless you want a $4,000 bill from a tree service and over $10,000 in damage done...
