From the moment we called the Best Western in Springfield, Vermont, we knew we were in good hands. We were driving in, a little panicked and unsure if they’d have the amenities we needed, but Faye, who answered the phone at the front desk, instantly put us at ease. She was so warm, helpful, and welcoming that by the time we arrived, we were actually excited to meet her in person. And she did not disappoint.
As a performer, I usually go into small-town hotels prepared to rough it a little — but this place had everything I could’ve asked for and more. A fridge AND a separate freezer in the room? Yes, please. A microwave? Lifesaver. A full laundry room on site so I could wash clothes the night before my show? Amazing.
There’s also a game room (yes, with old-school arcade machines) if you want to unwind, a pool for relaxing, and a fully stocked breakfast area that allowed us to stay self-sufficient while visiting Vermont — a big plus.
I was in town to give a talk, and when I realized I needed to print out my 36-page speech the night before, I was bracing myself for a stressful FedEx run… but nope. They have a business center with a full-on laser printer. I was able to sit down, hit print, and go to bed.
They also have an ATM, vending machines galore — and yes, they even stock energy drinks in the vending machines, which any fellow road-weary traveler knows is never guaranteed.
This place went above and beyond my expectations in every possible way. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels across the country, but what stood out most here — even more than the amenities — was the hospitality. Faye set the tone for the whole stay, and it honestly felt like we were staying with people who wanted us there. Can’t recommend this place enough.
P.S. Oh — and how could I forget? When we first walked in, there was a sweet older gentleman playing electric piano in the lobby, just setting the mood with live music. My jaw actually dropped. As a performer myself, it means so much to see a business carve out space for live entertainment. It’s not just ambiance — it’s meaningful support for working artists. I was told he’s there every Friday night, and honestly, that alone made me fall in love...

Read moreThis was ok. Clean, polite staff, decent breakfast, overall fine. Couple of issues with quality of interior:
We paid a little more for a room with a jacuzzi, only to be disappointed by the complete and utter lack of hot water. The hottest temperature we could get it was lukewarm at best. We called the front desk; they said there's nothing they could do.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but I'm still a bit puzzled how a VERMONT hotel wouldn't be able to produce hot water, in JUNE? If it was due to a large number of guests then I'd understand but the parking lot was nearly empty our whole stay Makes you wonder how it manages to survive during the winter months.
Additionally, every faucet had an aerator of sorts that functioned to heavily reduced the water pressure. We were filling the ice bin with the sink to help fill the jacuzzi -- it would have taken a full hour to reach a comfortable amount of water had we only used the faucet (and, at that rate, the water would be even less warm).
I ultimately made a comment at checkout about how we'd paid extra for the jacuzzi but had only lukewarm water and a trickle from the faucet to fill it, so they refunded us the difference resulting in us only paying for the cost of a regular room (aka no jacuzzi).
They also gave us a room with a door that had a 2 inch gap from the bottom of the door to the floor. See photo.
Still, the hotel staff were friendly, the room seemed clean, and the breakfast has good variety of decent options. The heating lamp in the bathroom is also nice to keep you warm as you transition...
