My girlfriend and I traveled to Eugene from Boston for her job interview and we had the great pleasure of staying four nights at the McKenzie Orchards Bed & Breakfast Inn (in the Paradise Bedroom). It was a joy getting to know our hosts Tom and Karen, who provided incredible hospitality, a wealth of information, excellent food, great conversation and laughs. They are truly warm and caring people who love what they do, and we were so happy that we chose to stay here. A wonderful time! Tom not only had great directions for us (around town and the state), but also was so knowledgeable and helpful with information about activities, events, restaurants, neighborhoods, and the local community. The beautiful home is a quiet and relaxing place to stay, and we found it very easy to get comfortable. Our room offered a nice level of privacy, great comfort and space. The spacious grounds gave us a nice chance to get an up-close look at turkeys, deer, lots of birds and hawks, and even a chance to feed apples to the horse next door! The serene location seems perfect for a bed and breakfast, surprisingly close to Eugene, but with the feeling of being “away from it all”. We would highly recommend staying here and will gladly tell friends about it. No complaints at all! We especially loved the delicious and creative breakfasts (with fresh locally-grown fruit, home-baked muffins, waffles, omelets, and quesadillas), the night-time snacks (with vegetables straight from their personal garden, cheeses and great local wines), and especially the conversation. Tom and Karen were wonderful, and we cannot thank them enough for their generosity and hospitality and for making our time in Eugene so enjoyable. We greatly look forward to attending some cooking classes here after our relocation...
Read morei did not stay the night BUT i had to write this review because i was shocked- i called to get quotes and when i asked if they were close to cougar hot springs he had told me that they weren't at all, but he knew of a couple other places up there and was willing to get the numbers for them, i was unsure of whether to have him get them or not (it would be rude of me) and he just piped up with a couple of numbers and names and told me to give them a call. I was totally suprised!! who does that? a genuine person which you dont find usually in this business. (they are usually prissy) needless to say i did not even call those places- although the price was out of range this time, i figured if anything i would sleep at home (i was just wanting a quick escape for the night- we live in eugene) and save up my money to stay another weekend. with that kind of person running a bed and breakfast it is totally worth the saving and planning. I live in kindness and always love to see when professional business owners can break away and get in touch with people, after all thats what this business should be like. I am VERY pleased with his demeanor and genuine concern for me finding a place i would be happy with, even though he had ABSOLUTELY NO obligation to do so. I plan on returning to this beautiful place to stay the night and take advantage of the welcoming environment. Im sure my next review will be just as good!!! LOOKING FOREWARD TO SEEING THIS PLACE UP CLOSE AND IN PERSON! until then, thank you- whoever the gentleman was i spoke to- for the kindness expressed. Your place is beautiful and i hope more people get to experience it! I know...
Read moreTom & Kathy were extremely accommodating as we unexpectedly ended up staying with them for a bit. With the Springfield, OR Tesla superchargers losing power, and a drive to the next superchargers in Salem was not going to happen with the miles we had left on the battery, I gave Tom a call. His number was listed on the electric car registry, gave him a call, asked if he had power (which he did), and asked if we could come charge to make it to our next stop in Salem. He was so gracious and offered us to come charge there, welcomed us into their home, offered us a sandwich (which we declined since we weren't guests there), engaged us in wonderful conversation while we waited for our car to charge, and before departing, shared with us a delicious slice of pear cobbler that just came out of the oven with homemade ice cream. As an owner of a wedding/event venue in WA state, we had great time talking business and the joy of hospitality. It was clear that Tom & Kathy love what they do and are so gracious to have opened up their home to us stranded until we could charge our car. Very nice unexpected stop on our roadtrip back home. Would highly recommend this beautiful property with caring...
