Stayed 2 nights at House of Bliss for a solo retreat. Great view of the lake. Clean appliances. Comfortable furniture. Walked the trails, one of them was wide and deep in the forest with a smaller trail that led to the lake. It’s not like camping where you here all kinds of noise from nearby campers. No distractions. All the hermitages spread far apart. House of Bliss was cozy for one person, but it can occupy 2. Grocery store and gas station 20min drive if you forget something you need. I brought purified water because of stomach sensitivities to well water. They have ample beddings, hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper. They provide set of towels. There’s enough plates and utensils for meal prep/cooking. There is also a small coffee maker, bring your own grounds. There is a tower fan and dehumidifier, and ceiling fan, proper screening if you want to open windows and feel the breeze from the lake. Definitely will book again. Recommend this for the minimalist. Pack simple. Embrace the silence. Chance to slow down. Look out for the white guardian (cat) that roams the place and many other creatures.

I'm a regular visitor to the Metta Meditation Retreat Center. The monks are welcoming and always very gracious and I find the place to be very calming and peaceful. I highly recommended the center for the hermitages that you can reserve for personal quiet space as well as the myriad of workshops and retreats hosted by the monks. You do not have to be Buddhist. The retreat center welcomes people of all faiths. Metta stands for "loving kindness" and that is how it feels when you are there.

I just completed my first retreat. In just three days I experienced and learned more than I thought possible. Bhante is the epitome of loving friendliness, his calmness and wisdom radiates. The center is a safe place, allowing you to be open and vulnerable, a place of peace that let me quiet my mind and really notice who I am. I learned it is ok to let go and let be. And the meals were exceptional! Truly a place to nourish the mind and the body ❤

I had the opportunity to attend a Chi Gong & Meditation Retreat at the Metta Meditation Center and it was one of the best experiences I have had. This was my first retreat ever, and what a wonderful event this was! The Center is easily accessible and right next to the lake, so the views are fantastic and the overall feel of the space and the place allows you to achieve great peace and connection with nature. The Monks running the center are so welcoming and attentive you feel at home! Certainly, the right place to go if you are looking to have time away from the craziness of daily life. This retreat, in particular, was a great chance for me to self discover patterns of behavior I never noticed before, but also allow me the time and quietness to rediscover many things I like about myself that I had forgotten. I'm definitely looking forward to the next retreat I can attend at the...

I am honestly perplexed at the positive reviews of this place. I am not sure if it has changed owners or caretakers, but it was not a pleasant experience. The physical building was very dirty and in dire need of some insect removal. The kitchen was not even equipt with enough spoons & dishes for the number of beds in the building & we had to do some deep cleaning to use even use the kitchen. The bedding provided should have been done away with many years ago. Just in general I'm not sure that the caretakers know they are in the service industry or how to host guests on their property. Our group will not...
