My wife had this surprise getaway for my birthday. We had done a float trip every year when we were younger, but hadn't been for about 5 years now. My brother and his wife met us and another couple at Murphy's Place. ||The cabin (Dogwood) was beautiful. Each couple had their own bedroom with plenty of space for us all to hang together as well. The kitchen everything you need. There was a living room (and a TV I think), but I don't know that anyone spent any time in there. There was an nice elevated deck off the main floor and a patio with a hot tub below. There is a fire pit (firewood provided), BBQ grill/smoker as well. Bring your groceries and you won't need to leave. ||The float was great. It was peaceful, not crowded at all and there were only a few spots where the raft would drag the bottom. Our past float trips were more 'party-time' while this would be great for a family. ||It is fairly secluded, so prepare yourself for some 2-lane highway driving to get there. The cabins are down a long gravel road (about 1 mile) off the main road. ||The owners were very personable and friendly. We received a personalized email (not a form letter) before we had completed the drive home wanting to make sure everything was satisfactory and thanking us for our visit. These 2 are working hard for their dream. It's great when you find a place like this is owned by good people. ||If you are looking for a semi-secluded float or just a cabin getaway, I would highly recommend...
Read moreI called to find out the address on the drive in. Host Jessica told me she was busy and to call back later. I sent her a text asking if the Murphy's Cabins address was still correct. Murphy's is the former owner. I received no answer. I called when I arrived and was disconnected twice. She sent me a threatening email the day before I left, because I complained about the wasp nests, the nests are above the front door because no one has sealed up the gap over the door. The wooden table outside was rotted. There is a steep drop off 35 ft from the porch, it is covered with brush, and not marked. This is not a river view property. Justin came over and told us the tree leaves block the view in the summer. So, why is this listed river view. He says you can see the river in the distance in the winter. The grill is covered with soot and grime. The pans were greasy and dirty. The plastic fake rock covering on the walls is ugly and makes this place gloomy. No kindling wood in the wood pile. No hand soap in the bathroom. We felt mistreated and our vacation was ruined. When we eventually did find the river, we looked up and none of the 4 cabins are visible...
Read moreThe host refused to communicate with us about the address, she told me to call back, she was busy. Then I texted her, and got no response. I found the lace using the former owner's address. the description is misleading, there is no river view, after being disconnected several times, the owner came over, and told us the leaves are blocking the river view in the distance. I complained about the description of river front, I noticed today it has been removed from the description. I Received a threatening text by the host, Jessica, on the day before departure. She told me I could leave, she was furious because I was unhappy about communication and misleading advertising. The hosts placed an unauthorized charge on my credit card after I left, with no explanation. The pans were filthy, the grill was covered in soot and grease. The outside wooden table was rotted with splinters. The top of the front door had wasp nests because no one sealed the the gaps between the front wall and the porch roof. I found a broken piece of glass on the couch. There's a steep drop off 35 ft from the porch, it is unmarked and covered with brush. My family...
