8/13/2022 - The staff was polite when we arrived and when we asked for a refund due to leaving early. But unfortunately the campground was WHOLLY UNACCEPTABLE for the following reasons: (a) the water was brown (see picture of the brown streak left in our toilet from the water), (b) the water had a VERY pungent metallic smell (we noticed our neighbor who is one of the ‘seasonal guests’, i.e. residents had a very elaborate water filtration system); (c) the bathrooms were very dirty when we used them in the late morning, and (d) some sites are occupied by ‘seasonal’ guests, i.e. residents displaying signs with their political views. All the signs express the same message so if it is not consistent with yours, you may not feel comfortable next door to your neighbor. Given how volatile our current political environment has become the owners have to be tone deaf or simply don’t care if these signs have the potential to make some people feel uncomfortable. These signs are in front of vehicles anchored in the ground, etc., meaning on the campground property not the property of the resident/seasonal guest. A campground is for the enjoyment of every paying guest. When I am camping, I want to enjoy nature and relaxation, I don’t want political messages staring at me in the face. This place caters to the locals and NOT travelers. LASTLY – this campground has an ALARMING PROBLEM with box elder bugs. These are beetles associated with box elder trees which are very prevalent at this campground. We left our trailer with all windows, etc. shut, for one afternoon and we came back to at least 200 of these beetles INSIDE our trailer. These bugs are big and they fly! It was horrendous! It has been 5 days since we left and we are still killing these bugs in our trailer. We have been travelling the US for the past several months and we have never encountered a campground so awful. UPDATE 8/29/22 - For the past several days we have been killing MANY new tiny/baby beetles that have been a product of the disgusting eggs that these things left in our trailer. So the problems encountered at this campsite will haunt us for sometime. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE

Mediocre camping experience. We camp many times a summer, and like to try new places. We probably won't be retuning to Country Camping. We camped over the 4th of July, and the weather was pretty warm. Friends and us "shared" site 31, which had two hook ups. It was pretty tight. Many of the sites are really small here. We enjoyed the heated pool and splash pad, but the pool is small and closes at 8:00pm. Which when it was 90+ degrees all day and stays light until 9:30, seems silly. Even more silly was that Saturday when it was 90 degrees and had rained all morning campers were told with 15 minutes warning that the pool would be closed from 4:00-8:00 for adults only swim. During that 4 hours there were hardly any people in the pool. They also close the bathrooms at 9:00pm for cleaning, which is right when many people need them to get ready for bed. This wasn't advertised anywhere, so was quite a pain. Had we known we would have planned differently. Different people in our group also had some interesting encounters with staff. Several of which were unpleasant. We floated down the river which was $100+ for 5 of us. They gave us a ride to the start and provided the tubes with that fee. The water was the perfect temp, but must be really high this year. We couldn't touch about 3/4 of the way and there are many trees down on the float. So plan to have someone willing to be out of their tube and pulling the group to avoid branches most of the way. In a nutshell, it was a lot of small things that just added up. We are bummed we didn't have a better experience, because it was nice to not be driving "North" on such a busy weekend.

We haven't been able to do the camping experience YET.. but we went there to go tubing ...me and my two grandchildren who love the water! It was a great experience! Reasonable amount of money for a lifetime of memories! They Supply the tubes and the ride up River in a bus type vehicle ( bring your own life jackets if you need them) I also liked that the tubes had ropes on them so you could tie your tubes together... the river was actually comfortable not too cold.. higher than normal but nothing dangerous.. and my 10-year-old grandson was able to touch quite a few times.. there were a few trees down here and there as we've had a lot of storms lately... but my grandson loved being our pilot .. he made sure we didn't run into any of them..🤗 .. be watching for the country camping signs on the side of the river to your right .. as there are no signs saying this is the spot you stop at 😝 . We look forward to one day camping here for a few days at least. I'm really glad they have this option in our area ( I am a local )

Not the greeting I was hoping for.

My goal was to visit with family while they were camping for the day. Upon arrival I walked into the office to purchase a permit for my vehicle. I approached the counter and politely asked if I could purchase said permit for the day. I provided the site number I would be visiting - as I had purchased a permit the prior year. I was then asked for the name under the reservation to prove I was on the visitor list. I provided the names of each occupant (aunts, uncles, mother/father, grandparents) not knowing for sure who made the reservation - which I explained. While the staff member searched for the names I had given her, she denied that they were staying there. She then told me I would be required to leave if they could not find me on the visitor list and said I looked “shady” and “scary” to use her words exactly (I’m 18, was nicely dressed, well-mannered, presentable, and had just taken a shower.) She reached out to my uncle to confirm that I was allowed to visit their site. She continued to firmly question him about who would be visiting and told him he needed to list every visitor or she would not allow them into the campground.

During my conversation with her, I remained polite and respectful (yes ma’am, no ma’am, please, thank you, etc.). The behavior she exhibited was totally inappropriate and frankly rude. I know sometimes people make mistakes, but several of my family members (and other campers according to Google reviews) have been treated this way over the last couple years, which leads me to believe this takes place all the time. She eventually allowed me to purchase a permit and the issue was resolved. However, her behavior and remarks made me feel very unwelcome. I also discovered that she double charged for my visit.

The campground is fairly nice, but in my experience the staff has repeatedly had unreasonable behavior towards others. If you are considering this place to camp, I would suggest...

We stayed this past weekend as a last minute rerouting of our plans due to the weather. They were able to take us I booked within 24 hours of us going there. You can fill out information on line but then need to wait for an email confirming if they have space. The sites were big and the campground was clean. We had a 4-year-old with us and choosing a campground that has things for her to do is very important in our camping decisions. A few minor things to note and of course take in mind the weather was not cooperating for the most part (rain rain rain) so we needed things to do. They had a 10:00 a.m. come to the main building and pick up a kit outside the main building on Saturday to make a Father's Day gift which I thought was really cool. When we went up there they did not have it ready and the lady behind the desk was not sure what I needed, but she was awesome and put it together for us looking at what was behind her on the counter. A couple of times I was going to pay for things in the store and their system was down and unable to take cards so I had to charge to our site, no big deal. The arcade room which was a plus when I was looking at camps wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be another group of campers told us the same thing. The crowning glory of the campground for kids I think is the heated pool we did actually get a decent day where we were able to enjoy that and even though the weather was not what you would call warm the pool certainly was and we enjoyed this amenity. The splash pad area was also cool but to cold out (for us) to use. We drove into town one of the evenings to see if there was anything to do didn't see a whole lot but did eat at the local VFW ... good food. The dog park was amazing all fenced in large space. Overall...
