What a great way to spend a rainy 4th of July weekend. A few open-minded friends of mine decided to check Vermont Freedom out during one of their event weekends. We had a potluck dinner, a drag show, a huge bonfire, and brunch w/ mimosas. It was a great deal at $40 a night for tenting to have these events included. We didn't know what to expect due to the lack of reviews, so I wanted to take the time and share my experience. The People: All people are welcome here. The website says, "We do not care if you are gay, straight or anysexual or non-sexual. As long you are human and get along with others, you are welcome here." The people we encountered here were terrific. I don't know how to describe the hospitality we met- it was honestly so welcoming to have people go out of their ways to make us feel comfortable. One thing we were told by the owner was, "If you need strict rules of the campground - this isn't the place for you." If you're just respectful of your fellow campers, you honestly won't run into any issues here. It's a very social place to expect to talk to everyone. By the end of the night, some acquaintances were wishing you a good night by your name. The Nudity: If you're researching this campground, you already must know it is clothing optional. The weekend we went, a majority of men camping, so a majority of the nudity we came across was male nudity. This was my first experience with nudist culture, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to strike up a conversation with a fully nude man in broad daylight. It wasn't weird or anything. It's a freeing feeling to see others feeling free. If you don't gawk and make a big deal out of it, you'll be fine. The Place: The grounds are superb! There are some tenting areas and more RV/Camper friendly areas. You can tell this place is still getting settled in since a few construction projects are going on in future campsites. There are two cabins you can rent, a gender neutral bathroom (one has a urinal and one doesn't) with quarter operated showers. There is a barn where the events took place and some nice areas to walk around with your morning cup of coffee. Also, there is a general store right down the hill. But this part of VT is pretty rural - come prepared with stuff you might need. We heard the place will be adding some hot tubs near the bathrooms, so that sounds wonderful. Camping: We tented on a rainy weekend, and it wasn't too bad. I think each site has water and electrical hook-ups available; we just used the water. I had to park my car across from the campsite to avoid getting stuck in some mud, but it was vacant, so it worked out well. Overall: This is a special place. I plan to be back for another themed weekend with my partner and a few friends. I'd like to thank everyone who made us feel welcome at Vermont Freedom, especially Butter Ball. I look forward to seeing this place grow into a special place in the Northeastern Kingdom.

This Adult’s Only campground is surrounded by the beauty and nature of Vermont. From the green trees and variety of birdsong to the smell of the wild thyme growing in the field and the frogs calling in the pond. It was a space that I could be free and enjoy myself and my friends. There were clean facilities and three good sized hot tubs, as well as a heated pool. The weekend I went was a bit chilly and rainy, so I really enjoyed spending time in the hot tubs. It’s about a 3+ hour drive north of Boston, and the cell service gets spotty in the mountains, but the beauty of nature was well worth it, including the Bald Eagle I saw fly overhead on my drive home through the mountains. The owners/seasonal regulars in the campground were wonderful people and they made sure the facilities were clean and things were running smoothly. The roads in the campground are rocky and may be tough for smaller cars, but work well for campers and trailers. And the roads being rocks also meant they didn’t flood in the rain. As a nature lover and a birdwatcher I look forward to going back to the campground to see and hear more birds and wildflowers. As someone who goes to adults only events I also look forward to another event hosted at this campground. The composting toilets were not my favorite thing, but they weren’t the worst bathrooms I have encountered on a camping trip or an event space, and I appreciate that there were showers available as well.

This place for me was more therapeutic then fun. After staying in my shell for the first 2 days, on the third day while in a video connect group for MST, trauma, and other issues relating to the military veteran population, I realized these issues where no longer problems for me. The welcoming other campers, local community, and an ability to be open about absolutely anything, and the following acceptance is some thing to me extremely unique. The hot tubs help with muscles pains of old injuries and the people from campers to the owner and locals make it extremely exceptional, and as a bonus has amazing views and wild life. I highly recommend this place to Vets struggling with MST, PTSD, and depression.

Just spent this past weekend there and loved the atmosphere, friendly people, and good vibes of the whole place. The hot tubs are beautiful, and enjoy the heated above ground pool. It's very much a make what you will of the place, the seasonals are all welcoming, and we're planning on visiting during the summer with more hustle and bustle going on!

Hardwick, VT is about 13mins. away and is really cute. Enjoyed a coffee shop, there's also a recreational marijuana shop, and just small town cuteness! The Lamoille valley rail trail is great for biking, with an easy access parking lot right near the Cabot Creamery(323 VT-15, Hardwick, VT).

Would be nice to see a sunbathing area by the pool, or nice place to hangout by the pool. As it is right now if you're not swimming it's not really fun to...
