Great looking campground, very mordern and updated looking spots! Also has a boat ramp and it looks like you can rent canoes and kayaks. I saw a bait shop next to the visitor center. I also spotted firewood stacked there so it may be for sale to the campers. Can't tell you on the visitor center since they are working winter hours and closed while I was there. However, when I talked to the staff on the phone, they seemed very nice. Ok.. I was there in early January '23 for an overnight backpacking trip to the shelter, just under seven miles to get there. Now it is promoted as a hiking / biking trail. I can tell you the seven miles to the shelter, there were many foot bridges that have been washed out making creek crossing a challenge at times. Lots of blown over trees blocking the trails and at times the trail markings (painted red) were very hard to spot. If I recall, the worst section is mile 3.5 to around 5.5. At times we lost the trail. I would NOT want to take a bike on this section. The trail shelter (shelter #1) was nice with a fire ring and benches around it. There was also a picnic table there. This campground is up on a small hill with a nice close view of the lake. I did talk the assistant park manager and they are working on funds to repair the trail. Overall, this is a great park and worth a visit! Just stay away while I'm there, I'm greedy and want neat...
Read moreWe stayed at Cane Creek State Park on 10/28-29. From the moment we pulled in til the second we left we were at peace. This park was so pretty. It’s a small campground area and anyone we talked to was very nice. We lucked out and grabbed spot 28 on the end. We like to be on the end anyway because we have dogs and just like the openness. But when we got parked and saw the added fence on the patio we were more excited 😂 even if we stay somewhere for just one night we always find a way to make a “happy home” and this spot sure helped make that happen 🤩 the dogs were able to sit out with us on their beds and watch squirrels 🐿️ and 🍁 leaves as they were falling. I say it’s fall, my husband says they are dead from the drought either way…. It was pretty 😂 so yeah there was a burn ban so my fire pit dreams didn’t come true this time but it’s ok, I was out in my camper with my husband and dogs so I was just fine✨ we strolled down to the fishing dock and I have to say if there was a physical feeling of the emotion AWESTRUCK I felt it! 🤩 😮 it was soooo petty! Calm water, the skies colors beginning to change as the sun started to set and those Lilly pads were so cool 🐸 We’ll probably never come back to this campground ever again because we just want to see lots of different places, but if I ever get the chance to recommend an RV camping spot in STAR CITY, ARKANSAS,...
Read moreThis park is a gem. Mercifully not a huge place so you don't have a hundred campers lined up. The rv spaces are generous and level, with electrical and water hookups. There's a central dump station, easy to access. In our case, after a full day's drive we arrived at about 9:30 pm. Our reserved spaces were tagged and open, easy to find and get into. Spaces aren't right next to each other either. The bath/showers were warm (30's outside) and CLEAN. Everything worked and looked well maintained. There's 2 pavilions, beautiful hiking trails of several lengths around a scenic lake and a paved walk area from the rv area to the boat ramp. The paved walk is stunning, extremely well designed and constructed. Whomever laid out this park did an excellent job. It's gorgeous and minimizes road traffic while enhancing interactive time with nature, family time, or just taking a break. But the real award goes to the staff here, they are helpful, friendly and obviously take pride where they work. This place is well maintained, clean, and far above average. We've been to a number of parks in different states and we think this one is the best we've come across. Really well done and well managed. We'll be back - it's...
