While I have been to the Buckhorn Inn for dinner many times in past decades, I have not been in the last few years. I have never been as an overnight guest...until recently. ||As a surprise to my spouse, I booked a weekend escape at the Inn. What an awesome experience. We were met by one of the new owners who checked us in and gave us a brief tour of the historic property. I took advantage of their special package and had homemade truffles, bubbly, and roses waiting in the room. We had a nice and very clean suite with a comfortable bed, enclosed reading porch and a huge bath. It was perfect to just relax and nap.||Breakfast comes with the stay...a huge, made to order offering of eggs, meats, breads, sides and in-house made jams. We didn't need lunch either day after the delicious breakfast.||Dinners were available on site since this was the weekend. We took advantage of the Friday seafood buffet and Saturday family buffet. Delicious and all homemade. Don't skip the cucumber salad. WOW. They even had flowers on the table at every meal for us!||The level of service and attention paid to us by all the staff was over the top. Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and pleasant. We really feel as though we ended the weekend with a group of wonderful new friends. ||Be sure and take advantage of the local and in-house jams, jellies, cobblers, syrups and other goodies. We bought several to give as gifts.||We can't...

We discovered The Buckhorn Inn & Tavern while returning from a weekend in Snowshoe, WV and stopped for brunch without a reservation. The host was welcoming and accommodating even without a reservation on a busy Sunday morning. We stepped in to a charming foyer where we were met with the aroma of the burning fireplaces and breakfast plates being delivered. From the foyer we viewed the two dining rooms on each side each tastefully decorated for the upcoming Valentine's Day with the fireplace warming each room. We were escorted to a table through a serving area which wasn't very pleasant and seated in a banquet room that has no charm of the tavern but we didn't have a reservation so were just grateful that our party of 5 was seated. The main event was our breakfast which was outstanding. We all had something different and shared bites from everyone's plates. I had the french toast with bourbon maple syrup with homemade sausage. I'm not a big sausage fan but this is like nothing I've had before and left me wanting more. Our table also enjoyed eggs benedict, a breakfast bowl, chicken and waffles and steak and eggs. All the eggs were cooked to order and to perfection. The Buckhorn is definitely out of the way but if given the opportunity to be in that area, don't miss out.. but make a reservation so that's you're in the tavern instead of the odd banquet room. We all can't wait...

Here’s my review from our dining experience at The Buckhorn Inn and Tavern last night. We had many positives and negative comments so we decided to try it out for ourselves. Bar 9/10 Appetizers 9/10 Entree’s 7/10 Service 5/10 Wait time from start to finish 1/10. Definitely a learning experience for new owners. It was Maple Festival weekend and the place was full. The managers and staff had no idea how to handle the situation at hand. We arrived, greeted, seated and service very quickly by our waitress. Drinks and appetizers were great. The restaurant filled very quickly and we then waited 2 hours for our food. If we had children with us we would’ve left. Our food did not come out together once it was prepared. The table next to us arrived later than us with a bigger party and received their food before us. My dinner was not correct but they quickly fixed that. Mine and Greg’s entrees were good. Others with us not so much. They ran out of everything on the menu or didn’t have enough. The peanut butter pie (which is a signature dessert of this restaurant) wasn’t worth eating. Our bill came and after numerous times telling our waitress how to split it up was still a freaking mess. Needless to say I will not return nor would I recommend it and if new owners don’t get their act together it will NOT be successful fir them. Overall...

Took a trip to the beautiful, snowy Buckhorn Inn. It was built in 1811 and was used as a stagecoach stop back in the day. #bedandbreakfast #virginia #virginiatourism #historicvenue #weekendvibes #travel #wintertravel

We stayed a night at the Buckhorn on our way to Snowshoe and we were absolutely delighted with our experience. The establishment itself is a historic home, dating back to 1811, that has been updated, but only to the point of the additions of current comforts. The historic features have been kept/restored/maintained wonderfully and it feels like stepping back in time. We stayed in the smallest room, which was all we needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept great! As great as the stay itself was, the food was next level. Amanda’s homemade desserts are , just, wow. No words. Just… wow. I had the key lime lush and didn’t want to finish because it tasted so good I didn’t want it to end. For breakfast I had the crème brûlée French toast, and once again, I could not savor the dish enough. Every bite was better than the last. Highly recommend. We give it all the stars. We can’t wait to go back.

This inn was on the way to our trip to West Virginia. So much history . Built in 1811 as a stage coach inn and tavern. The inn keepers are very nice and accommodating to make our stay comfortable. The Washington Suite is pleasant with a gas fireplace, four poster bed and a door that goes out onto the upstairs porch. The breakfast, made by Amanda was superb. She even delivered to our door in the morning with french press coffee. If you can look over the few stink bugs in the room, old carpet, see thru curtains, paper-thin walls you will enjoy yourself. Kinda quirky in an old house kinda feel.
