of course bismark was full so we headed on to the next city and saw a sign for tops motel. the lady there got us a room and we went in cuz we had been driving all night and needed to sleep. i didnt care that there wasnt a phone or no shower just a bath and a little tv with 2 channels i was tired. i put my stuff on the counter and noticed there was a razor blade on the counter with some sort of rezidue on it. i started thing get curious because why would there be a razor blade.. i thought is someone making some lines.. my husband told me to chill but when my 1 year old opend a dresser drawer there was a hallow pen with white substance in the inside and also a light bulb which can sometimes be used to smoke drugs. then i started to think, if thats in here then what could be on the bed or carpet that would be bad for my girls. i wouldnt even sleep under the covers .. we stayed 2 hrs just to sleep and left. i mean gross! plus my hubby had just filled up the gas not long before going to tops and after we had 50 miles to empty. it just seems a bit suspicious.. but anyway i dont think i will ever go again !no wait.. i...
Read moreAs others have indicated there is not much around this tiny town, and I was glad to find a place to rest from driving through high winds and dangerously blowing snow. Although it looked like something out of the 50's, the place was spotlessly clean and tidy, and although there isn't any wifi or microwave there was a new small tv with enough local channels to keep me going (including PBS), and a new very comfortable bed. It even had a real storm door on the unit that kept the place tight and warm. Can't comment on the shower as I didn't use it. My only complaint was that although I turned the heat completely off, the room was still too warm for my taste, as the boiler must be designed for 40 below. However a small stand fan in the room was sufficient to cool things off for a good night's sleep. Price was less than the Motel 6 in Bismarck, and it's much nicer. Not sure what happened to those...
Read morewhen i tell you the woman running it was the single sweetest person on the planet, i mean it. not only did she go above and beyond to help because i was having surgery, she called my husband to let him know about the weather, she gave me some tips on dealing with knee surgery, and made sure i could take a shower in the morning. the rooms are very clean and the beds were SO COMFY!!! they smelled like home, everything was so comfortable. you can genuinely tell how much effort they put into it.
the garden area is beautiful and so serene, there’s very little traffic nearby, and the tvs gave us a heck of a time and it was actually so nice because it got my sister and i talking and actually spending time together.
if i have to stay down there again, i will ABSOLUTELY be staying...
