We loved the Convent House! Had reserved the main floor room as we don't do stairs. Unfortunately only able to stay one night as they were booked solid the next few days, so make your reservations sooner than later! The Convent House is beautifully decorated, every room was full of interesting items from its earlier days. We were given a tour by Marie, when we checked in she showed us around, explained the doors to use, where our room was, our bathroom, kitchen and where breakfast would be served. She also answered so many of my questions about the place and decor. Our room was nice, beds were very comfortable loved the linens, the bathroom across the hall was beautifully decorated and everything was so clean. The kitchen was so well stocked. I wish we had needed to cook. Next morning we went in to breakfast. I had asked when we reserved if they could accommodate diabetic dishes. Marg seated us at a long banquet table (we were only guests that night) beautifully set and prepared our food in a lg kitchen area where others were preparing food for a later meeting. Was so cool everyone who came by greeted us, most knew my Aunt who lives near by. So everyone asked about her, about us, shared memories, we had the best time. Marg was great, so friendly, food was delicious and fresh! Oh my, was so good and all diabetic friendly. Well, except for the best Rubarb Crisp I've ever eaten lol. Awesome company, food, etc... we so enjoyed talking with everyone, didn't want to leave! Can't wait till we can visit again. Sally, Marie and Marj, you ladies are...
Read moreSeveral of us made the trip "home" to Nebraska to spend Thanksgiving together. Convent House was decorated for the holidays, which added to the charm. As others have stated, Marjorie and Marilyn are fantastic hostesses and we enjoyed great food and conversation with them every morning. Staying at the same time were our relatives from Vermont and Philadelphia. Breakfast was served on our schedule and we were able to enjoy a comfortable, leisurely visit in the fantastic state-of-the-art kitchen before going to Grandma's. Breakfast always included lots of fresh-brewed coffee, a hearty egg casserole, fruit, juice, and a wonderful assortment of breakfast breads.||||We had the basement room for 4 of us and it was super - very large - 4 beds, a great bathroom, TV, 2 recliners, and we even used the laundry room for our personal dressing area. ||||The architectural details of the house are beautiful and the ladies provided the history and first hand experiences of the transition of the building from a convent to a remarkable BnB. It is also worth noting that the "school" portion of the house also has a banquet facility for up to 50 people. This is catered by the same team that provides breakfast, so I know that the food would be great!||||Marjorie - we are only home for one day and we were really missing the homemade cinnamon rolls...
Read moreI discovered The Convent House B&B via my guidebook (Off the beaten path Nebraska). I could not have been made more welcome. A veritable and literal shelter from a Nebraska storm. The rooms and facilities are excellent. THE BREAKFAST WAS THE BEST OF MY WHOLE TWO WEEKS IN NEBRASKA.||||The B&B was opened in 1993, the hard work of three ladies - Marilyn, Marjorie and Erma ... they rescued the boarded-up convent house from further dilapidation. They have done an amazing job.||||The B&B has it's own kitchen for guest use - this is important as Steinauer is a small village without an abundance of near by eateries.||||During my stay breakfast was served in the community kitchen/diner. The ladies have created not only an excellent B&B but also a community centre.||||Power to them...
