Venture Out at Cudjoe Cay INC. — Hotel in Stock Island

My family and I were harassed by security the whole time we were there. Tried to deny us parking access because we're had extra truck and trailer. My unit was ran down from previous times I have rented. But honestly all that could have been looked past if it wasn't for the TWO FEMALE SECURITY GUARDS (TINA and EMILY). My people are divers, we were up and gone most of the day until evening. Constantly had to deal with security about truck parking everytime we got back until finally a nice security guard Jim sold us another truck pass. Even he didn't understand why they acted the way they did with plenty of space left. Female guard actually walked down the side of unit to see that my jetski was tied to the side of my boat for convenience to my neighbor and his boat. Still plenty of sea wall for my two vessels to be bow to stern with each other on my seawall. I was just trying to be nice and give him ample enough room to operate, even into my seawall if needed. I told her I would move it and she insisted I needed to get it gone. As we were packing up to leave VO I pulled my vessel out of the water and pulled it near my until to load up the rest of our things, a security guard tailgated us from the boat ramp to the house and never once asked what I was doing until I parked, which they had multiple opportunity to stop and talk to me when I stopped to drop off equipment at another one of our rented units in VO (we rented two units this time, thousands of dollars). He rushed up in his cart and proceeded to tell me I couldn't do whatever it is I was doing. He had no clue what I was doing. At this point I let him have it and told him what I was going to do. He backed down immediately and told me it was once again a female security guard that put him up to it, (I could hear her blasting him with questions over his radio wanting to know what we were doing) as if she was some kind of detective. He then informed me she was some washed up ex law enforcement that was fired. Once calmed back down I talked with him for about 15mins at about 130am. Remind you we we're packing up to be gone by sunrise on our last day of rent. He said, "take as long as you need", so I did. Truck and boat was parked in a rock parking area directly across from our unit for maybe 4 hours while we finished loading. From the time he left I watched female security drive by multiple times after. I even waved when she went by, four feet from me never once even would look at me. At about 6am day of departure I came out to a 3rd note on my truck saying it needed to be moved immediately because I did not have permission to park there. Comical As for unit: Multiple roof leaks, constant dripping even when not raining throughout the house (master, kitchen, living room) Washer destroyed most of our clothes with stains Dryer didn't dry clothes Counter tops dirty and most of house Ants everywhere throughout unit Grill never been cleaned **FEMALE SECURITY guards overzealous to the point of harassment! I myself, my family, and multiple friends rent units in venture out multiple times throughout the year, never have I been harassed and stressed out like we were this time! I DON'T THINK VO WILL EVER SEE US AGAIN! Constant hassle with the two female security guards TINA and EMILY.

I was informed that it's been this way for a little while now and no one ever reports it. Usually I don't do reviews but this needed to be said. Save your money and rent...

Rented property through AirBnB “Palm Tre Paradise” - very dissatisfied with stay and will not return. Upon the 30 minute check-in wait and being treated rudely from front gate staff, we learned of a $50 resort fee plus tax* (cash only). It wouldn’t have been surprising if there were actual resort amenities. There is a nice heated pool we used once for 10 minutes (always stayed busy with kids)... there was a hot tub that was out of commission during our stay. There are designated “public areas” to enjoy the waterfront, but dare not to stray from those designated areas. We we’re enjoining spotting fish literally 6’ away from the designated area, standing on a paved sidewalk of an unoccupied EMPTY lot, when security quickly arrived to let us know we were on private property. We moved 6 feet over to be sure to stay in the designated area.

Two dead roaches were found in the unit upon first checking in (it’s Florida, we weren’t going to complain.)

A TERRIBLE ending to our otherwise stress-free vacation, the property owners emailed us 20 minutes upon leaving the property, to inform us that their maid claimed the rental reeked of marijuana, and that they had a strict no smoking policy in the home. They are going to place a $300 cleanup fee with AirBnB because the maid will have to wash all the sheets and towels (which should have been done ANYWAY?!). Did we smoke marijuana inside their home? Absolutely not. We explained that a patchouli body sprayed was used in the home and perhaps confused with the smell of marijuana? We requested to immediately return and meet with Venture Out property management to assess the issue and show them our body spray to compare the smell, although, our request was denied because the items were already in the wash (we spoke to them 1 hour after leaving the property). We are now addressing the conflict through AirBnB.

My recommendation: there other other rental homes or local motels like Looe Key Resort with the same “resort amenities”, but more welcoming and will not charge you $300 if you use body spray. And NO the unit ABSOLUTELY did not even smell like the body spray...

This place is horrible! While the views are gorgeous, the people who live and work here spend no time admiring the views, but instead spend thier time harassing the renters. This is a community of old folks who have NOTHING better to do than to go around and play a game they call "hide and seek" where they look for violations they send to the guards who come around and put "citations" on your vehicles. The "rules" do NOT apply to any of the owners (old run down mobile homes), but to the "renters". The rules are ridiculous - you are allowed a recreational vehicle and a car. Almost everyone here has a golf cart and many others have motorcycles. If a "renter" parks thier motorcycle on their lot - but has any portion of your wheel on the gravel - that will get you a citation, If you park your RV less than 5' from the road, that gets you a citation, parking is really a huge issue that will get you a citation or even a boot put on your vehicle!! However, if you are an owner - it does not apply. We paid over $4K to stay here for 6 weeks and will NEVER return. For the same $$, you can rent a really nice place that is more RV friendly at Blue Water Key, Boyd's in Key West, or Sunshine Key. And none of these places look like a mobile home park. They are more "renter" friendly for RV's - Venture out is really more of a mobile home park filled with old busy bodies - they tell you to "buy a lot if you want to change the rules" You will pay between $300K to $500K to have a driveway for your RV nd live next to a junkie mobile...
