5 stars isn’t enough stars for this place.|It’s very rare to find a place with a 5.0 rating. This place exceeds that with flying colors.|After a 4-hour bus ride, my partner and I (and my cane and spasmodic back) were excepting to be able to uber 10 minutes from the drop-off to the inn….this wouldn’t have happened lest we paid $60 for an uber (there weren’t even any cab companies in the area)….the innkeepers husband, halo a-glowing, showed up in his chariot and brought us to the inn, in all its grand Victorian home, heartwarming holiday light display, and up to our beautiful room (Greek Isles). We dropped our things off and were invited to a complimentary wine, cheese, and comedy night in the main house…having not eaten anything in hours, we were famished. We were provided some of the most delicious, creative pizza while enjoying an open-mic comedy night.|The main house itself is amazing beyond words, with all the comforts of home, and then some (or a lot). This house is a grand Victorian, and one wonders how it was in yesteryear, but every room is amazingly decorated, with wallpaper of dogs, a fireplace, record player…the breakfast room has a 24-hr coffee and soda area, and in all, it’s just so cozy…like the house in all its grandeur is hugging you. |One selling point was that this inn has a resident bulldog. At time of print, this review is being overseen by a small stuffed animal version of the host hound, as the real one has yet to be seen.|Once we retired to our room, as tired as we were, we took a soak in the lovely jacuzzi, and then flipped on one of most comfortable beds we’ve experienced in a long time. (Remember- one of us is injured and using a cane, so comfort is paramount!) |Next morning, we go to the main house to experience the highly-acclaimed gourmet breakfasts mentioned in so many other reviews. ….did.not.disappoint. Gary, one of the innkeepers, went around welcoming every guest as they arrived in the warm, cozy breakfast room, and asked how they were enjoying their stay…this indicates the hosts truly care and are not just doing “table touches.” Breakfast for morning #1 was homemade stuffed brioche/challah with Apple compote, thick cut and incredibly delicious bacon, and a fruit parfait….incredible!||Gary told us that the inconvenience experienced involving the surprising scarcity of, and inexplicable cost for, Ubers around this area, is standard, and highly recommended we get a car….worth.every.penny|The only problem: we don’t want to leave the inn grounds as they are so charming and beautiful even in the winter, with a frost-covered lawn and herb garden and outdoor pool:…all of this only added to the Norman-Rockwell-esque rural landscapes in the area (note: Norman Rockwells home is less than 10 minutes from the inn). |They may not have had a comedy show the second night, but we were cordially invited to another wine-and-cheese hour where we mingled with other inn guests, who were just as relaxed and happy as we were….just something about the true warmth of every part of this inn.||We are about to enjoy our last breakfast (but only until our next visit!) and then bid a tearful adieu to this lovely escape-from-reality paradise.||We may not always have Paris, but we’ll always have the Greek Isles (and a mini-Brutus).||Thank you for a wonderful,...
Read moreDo you want to lower your blood pressure in a healthy way? Then by all means become guests at the Inn at Stockbridge! Warm and gracious hosts/inn keepers/owners - Jeff & Lisa set the stage - charming, inviting, old country feel, neat & clean throughout, beyond comfortable in every way imaginable are the adjectives/phrases that immediately come to mind when reflecting on our recent stay at this beautifully kept establishment. Although there is so much beauty and culture to take in when visiting the Berkshires, coming “home” to the Inn at Stockbridge rejuvenates and refreshes whether you decide to sit by the lovely pool, rock on a chair on the spacious back or side porch, read while taking in the impeccably (but taken care of in a relaxed fashion instead of that look of being too perfect) manicured property with carefully selected, relaxing, eclectic, instrumental music played in the background, or relax in a way that works for you – perhaps indoors in your guest room, or in any of the well appointed guest spaces. There are plenty of books and games to entertain, interesting antiques to take in, and tea or coffee, seltzers, Coca Cola, or V8 juices, and snacks 24/7 (including delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies). The 4:30 daily wine & cheese hour is a special time where you can connect with other guests and share your stories. We found it to be an especially wonderful amenity where you may enjoy wine or an amazing basil lemonade (who would have thought to add this herb to a favorite summer beverage?!?), a lovely assortment of cheeses, grapes, homemade spiced nuts, crackers, and a savory deeeelicious biscuit-like treat homemade by Lisa. Wow! And while on the subject of food, the homemade out-of-this-world daily breakfasts served indoors or out, are to-die for (and Lisa will email you a recipe if you want to attempt to replicate a dish at home). Each morning there are uniquely prepared breakfast entrees to choose between or you may request eggs your style as an alternative. Again, there are homemade by Lisa pastry delights that you may help yourself to and while we were there, a basket filled with sweet, right off the tree, peaches were there for the taking. Such a rare treat for these two suburban guests. All items are beautifully and tastefully displayed and served by the most competent, warm & friendly staff. They cannot do enough to please at the Inn at Stockbridge. We rate the Inn at Stockbridge to...
Read moreMy husband and I chose Inn at Stockbridge for our getaway to the Berkshires based on all the many positive reviews. The Inn itself, our room, and the property is very nice. It’s a beautiful setting. Where our experience is different from the many reviews I’ve seen has to do with the innkeeper himself who greeted guests each morning at breakfast to ask how everything was going, how was the room, etc. The first morning, I asked if housekeeping would sweep or vacuum the room as it had rained and we had tracked in some debris. He said that they would tidy the room. I asked if that meant a quick sweep of the floors because in the info they had given us, it said tidying meant replenishing towels, making the bed and taking out trash. So I thought my request might be something they don't typically do. But he repeated that they would “tidy”it. I then asked if “tidy” meant sweep or vacuum. And guess what? He replied, they will “tidy” it. My question was pretty simple. His response was offputting. Housekeeping did clean the floors for us and our room was always wellcleaned. No issues there. So why the cagey response from the innkeeper?| I have to add that during breakfast another morning, he went from table to table, asking how things were, and we heard him dismiss what seemed to us to be simple enough issues that a guest might raise. I think when you stay at an inn like this, you have the expectation that the innkeeper will be attentive and hospitable not defensive and offputting. |One more issue…. In several places, the Inn says that because they have a liquor license, you can’t bring liquor into your room or on the premises. Fair enough. Those are house rules. During our three night stay though, the bar was not open at all. We came back to the inn on a Friday night, and theBar/lounge was closed.i never saw it open. So why so many references in their materials to their on-site bar if it’s not open? They do have an afternoon cheese and crackers in the bar where you can enjoy complimentary cheese with, I assume, the purchase of a drink but those are limited hours. And lastly, one thing to know if you go in summer and want to enjoy the pool, this inn is sited very close to the Massachusetts turnpike. It is loud when you’re relaxing by the pool. We heard the turnpike noise from our room in the Barn as well.. Look on a map to see the inn’s proximity to the turnpike if you think this might be an...
