Great place to stay! Owners are great people! I stayed here with my wife and two kids who are ten and twelve in August 2017. So we weren't into disk golf but we did take the hike to the top of the property and then down the trail through the White Mountain National Forest. The hike was a little bit of a challenge as the first part is pretty much a steep uphill and then it flattens out before heading downhill. We followed the trail down to Virginia Lake which is pretty secluded with a small sandy beach but very clean and fun. We also drove to North Conway NH which is always fun. Its about a 45 min. scenic drive with lots of places to stop along the way if you wanted to. As it is now, they have three of their Tree houses for rent, The Grand Oak, The Spruce and the Birdie. We stayed in the Spruce which I would compare with a typical Maine or New Hampshire small cabin with one exception. It was up off the ground in the trees! It was clean, new and pretty well equipped. Just what you would want if your wife or kids weren't into roughing it in a tent. Not a 5 star hotel or tent mind you but you get that camping feeling while your there. There is Air Conditioning (small window unit) , bathroom with shower , and a small refrigerator and small stove. There is also a good size deck that is great for sipping morning coffee and eating meals cooked on the grill outside. While we were there we were offered a tour of the Grand Oak by one of the owners who I can honestly say seem more like the neighbors who will help you with anything when you ask or always say hello, more than business people. The Grand Oak Treehouse is much more luxurious and even offers a jacuzzi bathtub along with unbelievable interior design and decor. Staying in the Grand Oak would not be considered camping in my opinion but would be a great place to stay for a special occasion or just a weekend or ski getaway. It also sleeps many more people. They also have the Birdie Tree House for rent. This treehouse is in a more secluded spot and would be more like camping in a tent, but again its a treehouse. We ran into a father and son at the community fire pit who were staying for a week in the Birdie and they seemed to love it. It has an outhouse I believe and 12 volt led lighting so its much more like tent camping. They are also in the process of building another "Treehouse" at the top of their property that will be very impressive. We were able to see it during its last stages of construction on the hike to Virginia pond. Again its pretty impressive just because of the location. I will estimate it would be about 2 to 3 stories tall. Again this is all at the summit of the property. The view will be unbelievable! If I remember correctly the owners told me that most of the wood used to build all of the treehouses was taken directly from the site. I would not think twice about...
Read moreI don’t know how I forgot to review this place when we stayed a couple years ago. We rented the biggest treehouse for three or four nights. I can’t quite remember now, but it was amazing! If you’re looking for peace and quiet, something a little bit different, and not wanting to rough it out, I would recommend the biggest treehouse. Especially, if you’re going to be staying for a handful of days. The owners are super friendly. Unfortunately, the people who stayed right before us must have broke the couch so we did not have that in the TV area. The owners did put camp chairs in there to try to accommodate after just finding out the couch was broke. I guess they ordered another one, but it was not going to be there until after we were gone. The mountain disc golf course was really awesome also! I have never quite played a course like it. Extreme elevation changes! My son and I also took advantage of hiking up the mountain to check out the observation tower on property. unfortunately also my wife and daughter got sick during this part of the vacation so they spent most of this time just laying in bed and the treehouse. They said they wish they would have felt better but glad they had such an awesome place too take it easy well getting better. We thought the entire experience was awesome. It has been two years and the kids still talk about the treehouse. This is very rural Maine so make sure you have what you need because you don’t have a lot of options for places to get stuff from. They have different size places you can rent on property and different price ranges with it. I would recommend treating yourself and going big. We do not regret spending what we did. This will definitely be in consideration if we ever make it back...
Read moreMy boyfriends is obsessed with disc golf and found this little place via a well-placed ad on his Facebook. Best marketing ever!||||We came up towards the end of their rental season - mid-October - and rented the Spruce Suite. We chose this one because it was just the two of us and I needed to have my amenities LOL. The Spruce Suite can technically sleep 4, though I imagine it might be a little tight with that many. The place was adorable - cutely decorated with moose and bear themes - and it has heat, air conditioning, and hot water. We also were treated to a Kuerig and K-cups (we brought our own because we weren't sure but great touch to know we won't have to bring any next year!). The tree house has a kitchen and bathroom with a shower stall as well as a small TV and DirecTV! There was even WiFi!||||The owners are super nice. We talked with the owner and she showed us around the largest tree house - the Grand Oak. We are actually planning on booking in that one for next year with our friends! The place is beautifully designed, crafted, and built by the owners' son and daughter-in-law. Stunning! It sleeps 10 I believe and is HUGE.||||As for the disc golf course: like I said, my boyfriend loves it but even to him this course was quite a challenge! I am relatively new to the sport but I think the course was very well designed though I do agree - it is a challenge. It is on the side of the mountain after all but we definitely enjoyed it. ||||Other things to do? We drove into North Conway NH for some food and shopping (about a 30-45 min drive) but there are plenty of hiking trails in the area and other outdoor activities.||||We highly recommend Timberstone Adventures and can't wait...
