We've stayed here before and it was a great stay. This experience was not as great but not horrible. First, the staff was amazing. They were very helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean and I'm very picky about cleanliness and look under the sheets etc before ever setting my stuff down. It passed my checks. I was happy that we could get a rollaway for $10 and it was a decent mattress. They do have a pool. I was a little sad to see they concreted in the hot tub. Wear shoes in the pool area because there are spots were the floor is coming up and since it's made of like rock/stones you will be walking on them in spots and they hurt. The pool was nice, clean and open until 10pm. They had towels in the pool area which I like. If you do have more than 2 people in your room you'll need to request towels because there are only 2 sets. The hot breakfast is still closed due to Covid. They still had milk, oj and coffee. They also had an assortment of pastries, granola bars, fruit cups and applesauce that you just grab and go. I would suggest bringing your own pillows and if you have a bad back or hips you might want to get extra pillows or blankets to pad the beds. They were very hard and the pillows were not comfortable. I have a bad back and woke up multiple times because I was hurting on the mattresses. The rooms were spacious enough to fit the twin rollaway in there. TV had plenty of channels. Little things could use some maintenance but nothing to the point that we had to call and request another room. Overall, I love the staff and how clean everything was but the mattresses were almost a deal...
Read moreBed bugs!! First, let me just start by saying I've stayed at this hotel many times throughout my life and childhood as I grew up in Stuart we even stayed here the night of our wedding. Unfortunately the new ownership that has taken over is absolutely horrible. My wife found bed bugs on our pillows that you see in the pictures. I asked to move rooms, so we moved from our King Suite into a standard double queen at midnight with my 3 kids that i had to carry one by one and my pregnant wife. I asked for a refund but all they did was dropped the price to the standard room rate. So not a refund at all. They gave me a small discount for the meeting room for the following day for my daughter's birthday. I accepted because we didn't have anywhere else to do her birthday. But this is not even close to compensating for what we went through. I asked them to wash my clothes for me because of the bugs and they did but after staying up till 3am to get my clothes back i found that their dryer ruined over $100 worth of clothes because they put the dryer on the hottest setting so stuff melted and shrunk so bad they don't fit. Not to mention the pullout bed in the king suite was absolutely disgusting and completely broken. This hotel no longer cares about it's guests. One of the employees even approached me not to leave a bad review because "its bad for business" No, not doing the right thing is bad for business. The 4 star rating on this hotel is thanks to the previous owners. Do yourself a favor and stay away...
Read moreTotal Scam. Skip this hotel/Stuart in general and just get to Des Moines or Omaha. Don't waste your money here. Read on for details. Paid for a pet friendly room online, more expensive than a "standard". $122 + $12.20 in tax. $134.20 Before we ever arrived, we got a charge on the CC for $138.20. The hotel added on an undisclosed service charge (smells like fraud). When we arrived, I asked about the price discrepancy. He said it's a service charge. I asked him to show me where it discloses the service charge. He couldn't. I was told it was "automatic" and it wouldn't be there once the charges officially go through (yeah, sure). A "system" thing. Then I remind him we are staying in a pet friendly room and have our dog. Suddenly there is another $25 undisclosed charge for "pet fee". Keep in mind we booked and paid more for a Pet Friendly room already. I again asked where it discloses this fee, and why the have and charge extra for pet friendly rooms already. He couldn't. Had to pay it (for now) since it was late and were in the middle of BFE Iowa. Get into the room, floor is dirty, bathroom is half painted, bathroom fan is broken etc. Almost felt like retaliation for pointing out the scam when we checked in. So I'm currently sitting here with two separate full room charges and the pet fee on my CC. Even though I was already charged for the room in full before I arrived the desk clerk made me swipe my card again. Suppose a CC dispute...
