Beautiful, peaceful, romantic, relaxing b&b. The pictures are not photoshopped, it really looks like that.
The Rooms/The Place- We were supposed to stay one night but just couldn't leave and thankfully it was early summer so they had availability. Our room was amazing (Sea Room) and had its own balcony (it's actually a shared balcony with next door room but has a partition that makes it private) where we enjoyed a beautiful starry night the first night. It was so clear you could literally see the Milky Way with the naked eye while listening to the water lap against the shore. Architecture of the house is beautiful and filled with wonderful antiques. We aren't even "antique people" but we even loved looking at all the items. Rooms are clean and OH MY GOSH the sheets and towels were literally the softest I've ever felt.
The Owners- Mike and Angie are very friendly, accommodating and have the perfect balance of engagement. If you need anything they will probably ask you first before you can think of it and yet they give you as much space and privacy as you like. They brought up a mini-fridge to the room so we could enjoy our wine over two nights and gave us extra blankets for looking at the stars etc.
The Breakfast- Eating a cereal breakfast with a view as beautiful as the water one they have is good enough for me but they go above an beyond. A little sweet and a little savory with each breakfast and it is all made for you and brought to your table, no buffets here! French pressed coffee and tea, delicious omelets, yogurt parfait, and usually a baked item. It was truly wonderful!
*of note: the only bad part about the stay was that it is 45min one way from downtown bar harbor. Recommend limiting trips to bar harbor and just commit to spending time in and around the inn or only go to bar harbor once a day. Doesn't detract from how perfect the place was and it's nice to be at such a...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights recently and loved our stay. Nicole and Matt are great hosts and full of wonderful suggestions of places to visit and eat. The breakfast on the porch is amazing with wonderful views and we enjoyed it each time. We stayed in the Teaberry room as that was what was left because we planned our trip last minute and this was the only room available.
It was a lovely room, very spacious and lots of decor touches. The bed was big and comfy, and we didn't really hear any of the other guests or felt like you had to be super quiet in the room not to disturb others. It wasn't "creaky" sounding like the other inns we stayed at which made you feel like you were in someone's home. We loved the historic feel of the inn and it was very spacious downstairs to hang out. I will say the Maine sun is up early in the summer and there are no room darkening curtains, so pack a sleeping mask if you don't want to be up early. There are shades but the sun still likes to blaze through. We are morning people so it wasn't a problem.
The inn is about 30 minutes from Acadia National Park and we visited a less crowded part called Schoodic Point (opposite direction of the main park about 20 minutes away) which was wonderful so don't miss that by trying to go to the main park. Matt can tell you all about it, we are not fans of crowds and this part of the park did not disappoint. Be aware of being in the area on Sunday and Monday as many businesses are closed so ask Nicole for a restaurant recommendation.
We stayed at two other B and B's in Maine during our trip up the coast and this one was by far our favorite and we plan to come back soon. The view overlooking the bay was incredible and so peaceful which was our favorite part. If you are looking for a top class B & B experience, this is where you...
Read moreIf you are visiting the Bar Harbor, ME area I highly recommend Acadia Bay Inn B&B. Retired from their previous professions, Angie and Todd have chosen to share their gifts of exceptional hospitality as natural-born innkeepers...friendly, accommodating, and helpful! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such incredible warmth that extended throughout our entire stay. After giving us a tour of the home and property, both Todd and Angie happily shared local secrets of the best places to visit in and around the area. (Do not miss Raven's Nest on the Schoodic Peninsula!) The newly-renovated Victorian-style home is flawlessly appointed with antiques--each room embracing you with comfort and serenity. When we booked, the only room available was the smallest of the 7 rooms that has a private balcony that overlooked the front of the property, but it was very cozy and comfortable with plenty of room for my husband and me. A wood-burning fireplace is the centerpiece in the living room that welcomes you in the evening after a long day of sight-seeing. The view from the back of the house is simply spectacular! A rolling hill of grass leads to the shore of Frenchman's Bay, where you can sit in any one of the comfortable chairs, or a double swing under the porch, or on the private balcony if you are in one of the rooms that overlooks the back, and enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunset. Todd is a culinary master, lovingly preparing his signature breakfasts each morning. The next time we visit, we will be sure to try their home-cooked dinners...we didn't partake this visit but those who did raved about them!! We felt like we arrived as guests and left as friends! Thank you...
