I normally do not write reviews, but our experience this last weekend has motivated me to. We camped and floated with a large group (25 of us). The campsites are much smaller than other sites I have been to and the ones by the river, you have to walk through practically a forest to get to the water. Everyone was fully paid and followed the rules. Friday night we were completely harassed by the security guards. The quiet time is 11:00pm (which is completely fine) and the security guard came over at 9:30 extremely rude asking who was in charge and threatened to take me to jail if there were any problems, along with other things that were completely inappropriate and unnecessary. We shut the lights, drinking games, and music OFF at 10:50. He came back by at 11 telling us to quiet down. Eventually everyone but 5 people went to bed and sat around the fire. At 12 he came back and told us this was our last warning or we were going to be kicked out. The campers next to us were loud and still had music on and he failed to say anything to them. We were doing absolutely nothing wrong and being respectful of the campers next to us. I was so worried about it, I could not have fun at all. Saturday, we were floating at 10. We had 4 rafts reserved that we reserved 2 months prior to this trip. The front desk told us we did not pay for a 10 man raft (which we did) and they would need another credit card to charge $302 on. I told them absolutely not and we had already paid. They eventually made us call our bank and prove that we had reserved. She also said she couldn't contact the bus stop to let our large group know what was going on or the bus people know we were running late because of the ordeal and that we might all miss our float. Finally after over an hour ordeal, they finally found where we paid and we got to float. By Saturday night, we were all so fed up we went to bed early. I was completely stressed out the entire weekend and couldn't relax or have fun. I am not a complainer and am very easy to please, but we will never be going back to this campsite due to the lack of organization and the...
Read moreMy family and friends stayed here for 4 days and it was the absolute worse experience EVER. Let me start by saying I called and made the reservations on the phone with a really nice young lady, I told her this was my first time and I had a camper and several people bringing tents, so I said how many tents can be on my site she said exact words as many fit on your site as long as you do not go on other peoples site. She said since you have never been here would you like me to pick one that I would pick I said that would be great. She said site 10 ok perfect I proceeded to tell her how many quests there age when they would arrive. Reservation made. We arrive Wednesday set up site Everything is going well neighbos extremely nice. Site 11 opens up we go reserve that one as well lady at the office says you can pay for toniggt as long as your family is here before 5 the next day everything is good. So we go to the upper beach to be found by security that they are going to tow my car long story short the owner was at the campsite looking for a fight he instantly starting yelling after bad mouthing my family to all the neighbors around my site. I informed him his office made the reservation approved the tents than he stated no tents are allowed on 1 thru 10 sites well his workers made the reservation. We moved the tents over to be able to not get kicked out because his staff made an error. And only because we had already paid over 1000.00 and our float was the next day. So we float on Saturday all is well river was great, we are getting off the water I am pulling my children onto the bank when I get slammed in the head by one of the workers moving a canoe. He literally almost knocked me out so I had to sit on my cooler to get my thoughts together when the kid walks up laughing saying which one did I hit I said me and he was shocked and walked away Neve roffered an apology. Overall guests were awesome staff and owner was terrible. Never again will I recommend not...
Read moreWe came for a group float/kayak trip. It wasn't shared with us until launch that we could only do 5 miles since we were combined types (miscommunication 1). The employee shared a general idea of what to expect and where to stop. We got on the river and a while in, looked for the places described, maybe like a sign of some sort? No. (miscommunication 2). The kayakers left the floaters far behind and were quickly at the pick up spot. We got out to talk and to eat lunch, since we hadn't found any other place to stop. They immediately tried to take the boats. We explained that we were just eating and several were going to go back upstream to see if we could find the others. We were told they couldn't drive us back ip. (No one asked for that). They left and a few of us launched. He came back and demanded that we call them back. I tried to ask that if we oaid for a trip from 9am to 6pm so why couldn't we go back up a ways? We were told no. That would be a 'free' float. (Miscommunication 3) Apparently, if you get out at the pick up point, you're done. So we had to sit at one picnic table, with the porta potty about 1,000 yards away, up a hill. Our group showed up about 3 hours later and we all were bused back. I got in my car and looked for an exit indication. I had no cell signal at all and recall hoping for some sort of signage after Bourbon, MO on the drive in...(miscommunication 4 there were NO signs). There were no exit signs! Signs for all kinds of things ON property but nothing on how to leave! Some idea that you were heading the right way to Bourbon would have been helpful (miscommunication 5). Hmmmm it COULD have been a much...
