We stayed here from Thursday- Monday. Our campsite was an electric and we had a water faucet right by our campsite. We were able to set up 2 decent size tents. Our campsite was very shady during the daytime with an occasional burst of sunlight in the heat of the day. The shower house was close by, so it wasn't too bad to walk to the Shower house. I wish the Shower House had a family shower option. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and was kept in shape throughout the day. The shower side has an automatic light that kept going off when no one was in there. The park was very nice and huge. We saw a lot of wildlife in the park. There are trails that you can hike. There are 3 caves you can hike to through the trails. Fisher Cave unfortunately was closed due to bat hibernation for the winter. So, if you are wanting to go to Fisher Cave make sure to do it anywhere from May- September. It does cost to enter the tour, but I am unsure of how much. We swam in the river it wasn't flooded at all. The weather was very nice. It's a drive from the campsites to the river access. There are trail paths you can take but they are man-made. so be careful on them. The hiking trails are pretty decent. Some of the trails have amazing views. The bugs aren't so bad just make sure you spray down ahead of time. There are seed ticks to watch out for. Sullivan is the town closest to the campground/ State park. It's 4 miles driving to the town. They have a Walmart, Cracker Barrell, Starbucks, Schnucks, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Denny's, its about 30 minutes from...
Read moreWhat a HORRIBLE experience! I wish I could give zero stars. I called a few days ago to reserved a campsite for a whole week. I let the nice lady on the phone know I have a 35 foot 5th wheel camper. I was assured I'd have no problem camping in campsite #68 because the pad was more than 55 feet long. When I arrived I found two trees and a post right at the entrance to the campsite. Directly across from the campsite, right where I needed to drive to back into my assigned spot, was another post. I tried removing the badly placed posts, but they wouldn't budge. I tried also to drive over the grass to maneuver into the campsite, but the ground was too soft. There was no way to get my camper into that campsite, so I called the customer support phone number that I received with the reservation confirmation email. After being repeatedly put on hold for 15 minutes, I was told there was nothing they could do and that I'd have to call another number to speak with someone local. Someone local is who I should have spoken to from the start, because the people answering the reservation line obviously have no information about what can fit at each campsite. My frustration level was already maxed out, so I just requested a cancellation. Even though I had to cancel through no fault of my own, I was still charged a cancellation fee. I'll never stay at another Missouri...
Read moreWe've come here MANY MANY times to camp with our family and by far I have never had a issue with anyone around me. We always keep to ourselves. This time we had a very LOVELY (NOT REALLY) supposed host who we was told was off duty yet he thought he needed to come at another camper very aggressive and drunk screaming cuss words and such in front of our children (ages 2 to 10) to the other camper. Threatening to kick him out for a rule he wasn't aware of and apologized for yet this gentleman decided sorry wasn't good enough then proceeds to escalate the situation even more by taunting and getting closer and louder to said camper, The park employee or ranger whoever we spoke too seemed to just shrug it off and said he was off duty. I feel like there should be some sort of policing of these hosts as this isn't my first time I seen them step outta line and become aggressive to someone for no reason. This is against what this place says they tolerate yet this host is still here. Bet if it was any of us we would of been told to leave. Very unpleasant start to a beautiful weekend to say the least. Hope these issues get addressed before we have to go somewhere else as these issues have happened most...
