The Red Cone Lodge was a truly magical place to stay! We stayed there for two days (our only regret is that we didn't stay for MANY days!), as it was a stunning end of our trip to the West Coast, for a family Memorial Service and a family trip to see the outdoors wonders of the Pacific coast with all of our 3 adult boys, and one of their girlfriends. We arrived late after 8pm, we let Kim know, and sure enough she was there waiting to warmly greet us! She welcomed us, and gave us a quick tour of the expansive Red Cone Lodge with its beautiful exposed log beam construction, and perfect seasonal Fall decor abound in every nook and cranny. Every single aspect of the Red Cone Lodge felt upscale with a decadent gourmet kitchen, an expansive deck overlooking the mountains with a bar, fire pit and hot tub. There were also 5 super comfortable beds, a Great Room with sofas, loveseats and heated blankets. Cozy, comfortable and warm! Kim and Andrew curated every detail so that your comfort and peace are paramount and attended to at every juncture. They live below in the ground level, but we had the full 2 floors above. They were there briefly in the morning, and sometimes in the afternoon, but there was privacy and calm in the forest. It felt like we were living in a fantastic never-ending chapter of a whimsical log cabin storybook...turn the page slowly...breathe in the mountain air...and smile.
The breakfast at Red Cone Lodge was equally amazing! Kim asked us if there were any dietary restrictions, and my wife is gluten free, and middle son, diabetic. She provided a warm, buffet style breakfast, with homemade Norwegian pancakes (gluten free ones for my wife!), a full spread with bacon, sausage, fresh juices, and an array of pastries, alley 8am! She also offered and made us custom coffee drinks asking each of use what we wanted, what a way to wake up! Kim was also a great conversationalist, who lovingly and truly mixes in her own large family's experiences while listening to your own unique family story. She had bountiful tips and suggestions of what to see and experience in the area as well. Definitely go see Salt Creek Falls, about 20 minutes northwest on Highway 58, another Kim recommendation. Incredible!
We chose the Red Cone Lodge as a base to see and explore Crater Lake National Park, and it was less than a hours drive to the Parks northern entrance, a perfect location! But there is so much to see and do right around the Red Cone Lodge, especially in the winter time, as it is is ski and snowmobile country, Kim said that they get over 200 inches of snow a year! They also have three toboggan trails on the hillside of the Red Cone Lodge in winter that looks like fun too! We can't wait to come back and experience the Red Cone Lodge in a different season and for a much longer stay! It is rare in life that something (the Red Cone Lodge) and someone (Kim and Andrew) truly exceed your expectations at every turn, but they did! We will cherish our stay there and the memories we made in such a short time...thank you Kim and Andrew from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your wonderful Lodge! Till next time! Read moreMy wife found RCL via an email from This Oregon Life last fall and booked it for her birthday weekend nearly a year in advance. As the event drew near, the wonders began. Our girls don't have an experience with a B&B. They were wondering if we'd have to share a breakfast table and Inn with other guests. We assured them it would be fine and that we'd make the most of it.
We packed up and headed this way on Saturday morning, arriving comfortably to find that we were the only guests for the weekend. While we were totally ready for meeting other guests, we were tickled to find we had the whole place to ourselves. Kim greeted us with an infectious joy and we embarked on a property tour. She informed us that every year, the Lodge shuts down to convert to the Christmas season. We were the first guests to enjoy the tasteful (and plentiful) decorations, which took nearly 5 days. It was then that Kim informed us we had been upgraded. Our girls shared the upstairs room with an amazing King bed and we were treated to the main floor master suite, which is beyond description.
Every nook and cranny of the Lodge is tastefully and thoughtfully outfitted and decorated. It is a magical place. We have stayed in some pretty epic rentals - this is among the finest lodging I've ever experienced. And that doesn't include the level of service, care, and consideration put out by Kim and Andrew.
The first morning of our stay was also my wife's birthday. She is a private and simple person - and doesn't want her day to be made into an overly special affair. The morning breakfast spread was amazing and perfect in every way. We enjoyed talking with Kim and Andrew, after which we did some sight seeing around the area. Upon return, we offered to make a meal for our hosts, given the upgrades and such. Instead, we agreed to make dinner together. Kim and Andrew smoked a pork loin and our family provided everything else. That evening, we enjoyed an amazing meal together, full of laughter, stories, and love.
Our second morning was a reminder that the real world was around the corner. After another epic round of breakfast, we said our goodbyes and began dreaming/planning on how best to get back to this magical place - hopefully with snow on the ground!
To Kim and Andrew - thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness, we enjoyed every aspect of our stay and will no doubt be back. Enjoy the mac & cheese and pumpkin...
Read moreI came here with friends and family being the only one who was in love with this portion of Oregon during the winter. At the end of our 5 night stay, everyone else fell in love thanks to Kim and Andrew for hosting such an amazing Bed and Breakfast. Kim and Andrew will treat you like royalty! Kim stayed up until almost midnight (due to our 2 hour delayed flights) to personally show us the lodge at check in. The night prior to our stay, a tree fell on the string lights in the backyard and Andrew worked tirelessly in the heavy snowstorm to replace them so we can have tubing after dark. If there was a need, Kim and Andrew were ready to help. We booked the entire lodge and had amazing breakfast every day. Their pumpkin bread is heaven. Kim knows so much about the area, she's an encyclopedia! It must come from her love of Oregon. The main highway 58 is constantly maintained for snow removal and Red Cone Lodge has a private snowplower that goes through the neighborhood constantly. The neighborhood also has a separate power grid, so there are no blackouts. I came here for the hidden gem of Willamette Pass Ski Resort and found Red Cone Lodge as another hidden gem. This lodge is the perfect place to stay for a group that has both adventurers and eclectics. We can all enjoy snow from the comfort of the hot tub. It also helped that the lodge was fully decked out like a Christmas Hallmark movie to immerse ourselves in relaxation. We all gave Kim a hug as we checked out at 6 am because she really gave us the most amazing Oregon experience. Kim and Andrew are doing wonderful things for Klamath County/Central Oregon. They shared their future vision of doing an all-inclusive with 3 meals a day and even eventually providing transportation to/from excursions. We can't wait to see them again...
