This is my first return to a clothing optional, male only, 🏳️‍🌈 property. Also my first update to a prior review.📝 I have deleted much of my original review because this property was sold and is undergoing a multi million expansion 😱. (Not to be confused with an update or renovation) Everything is still here from before - in the same condition it was before....😕 You still have to hunt for the now third or fourth "office" location, still not really an office, still not where an office is expected when entering a campground.🤦‍♂️ It's now located in a new structure behind the pool. 🤔A place called the Black Bear Pub and Grill - which is neither a pub,🍺 nor a grill ♨️.....🤨 I paid full price 😬for an overnight RV spot and once again was stuffed into a overflow area and had to share utilities. No picnic table, no sewer, no space. I see they added 2 more rows of RV spots, but they are all taken by new perms. Once again these 🏳️‍🌈properties have no interest in overnight RV traffic. It's all about cabins and residents. They still only have the same 3 overnight sites here that were in use before 🤷🏻‍♂️ I was charged the full price for the increase in membership, which expires at the end of the year, (in two months). It was not a reduced amount for the last month🤷🏻‍♂️. A new membership purchased in November would expire at the end of the following year... 🤔. If I had visited in 2 weeks, I'd have a 14 mo membership. They no longer use the beautiful classic Lodge building nor include breakfast🥞 and dinner 🍽️ for the cabin guests. They have private, as well as community showers. 🚿They also have a bath house with sauna and steam room. Steam room still doesn't work. It didn't work 2 years ago either. There is also a dome house converted into a tavern dance floor and room with a pool table. (And a play room 😈) A DJ provides music 🎶 at the pool and the tavern during event weekends. The residents spend their own money to keep the alcohol, events, and prizes flowing. Theres still shots and food provided by the permanent residents on event weekends. The classic shot crawl is endless fun followed by an after-party serving hot food. The resident sites are set on two levels on the side of a mountain. It is cute, secluded, and private. It's the people that live here full time who make this a wonderful place! 🥳 They host several annual events, which are endless fun! The accommodations leave a bit to be desired, but that's not what this is about. The staff is absolutely wonderful and they seem to always be working, no matter what time of day or night. I don't know how they accomplish it all? Maintenance, cleaning, and cooking! A place of this size certainly needs double the meager staff, (still hasn't changed) who resides on site. They have a small ⛺tent camping area, but access to set up is a challenge,🧳 being behind the pool area. That should have been addressed straight away 🤨 The steep challenging hiking trail 🥾🚶in the mountains which goes around the entire park has since been destroyed at both ends, a big disappointment 😔. The lovely garden area is in disrepair. They do have nice new signs which certainly give you the impression of being more than it actually is. 🫣 Especially the one that says dinning. 👨‍🏫 Formerly at the lodge. And fountain ⛲ park....🫣😂 (sure) Perhaps it will be at the new resort area, which clearly is geared towards the new guests.... The property is being rebranded as a resort and a new section will be constructed with fancy cabins, possibly a timeshare type 🤷🏻‍♂️. I don't see any improvements to the original "campground". This is moving in another direction ⬆️⬇️. Once again I wish there was a Resort Review Board. I'm from Orlando. I know what a resort is.....🙄 Lost is the appeal of the classic "lodge", bed and breakfast this once was...

Timber… FAIL. While Timberfell Campground is situated on a beautiful piece of property, once you look past the scattered construction zones and building materials, that is unfortunately where the positives end. Truly one of the worst experiences that I’ve ever had in my nearly 10 years of gay camping. Gay camping is something I’m truly passionate about—this marked my 13th campground I’ve stayed at and first that deserves this review. Sadly, Timberfell lived up to the reputation that many of its lower reviews have described. I arrived on a rainy Tuesday, only to find that the computer system was down and check-in was not possible. I was directed to an RV site that I later found out was not the one assigned to me. The water wasn’t working at the site, and while I received permission to move, I was told that confirmation would be needed from Michael, the owner. That confirmation never came. Instead, I was told it was “first come, first serve” and that things would be figured out later. I moved the camper, only for the power to go out shortly after for me and the row of campers I was in. It remained out for nearly 8 hours, from Thursday into Friday. Then, by Friday midday, I was told I was in the wrong spot—again. The situation escalated when my friend voiced his frustration and was asked to leave. At that point, I decided to end my stay early and leave as well. Although Michael and I did speak briefly to clear up some of the confusion, the overall experience was disorganized and disappointing. Timberfell seems to be investing heavily in expansion while neglecting its already strained infrastructure. Reliable water, stable power, and clear operational systems should be a priority before any further growth is considered. The potential is certainly there—but until basic operational standards are met, I cannot recommend this campground *edit* I’ve been banned from the “resort” for this Google review. No complaints about it since was NEVER going back anyway. Just keep in mind when booking that the bathrooms are terrible with mold all over the shower curtains and caddies, they constantly have drainage issues where the water comes back up from the drain, water pressure issues, power issues (was told to wait til dusk or night time for the power boxes to cool off and to run my generator instead of using the “resorts” power, by Michael the owner, which I did because of my dogs.) When you have to go on your public platform and ask for 5 star reviews to counteract the truthful negative reviews…… there’s your sign!

My partner and I had the best time at Timberfell for my 40th birthday. We stayed in the brand-new Delta Dawn cabin and were the very first guests, so we got to christen it. The cabin was modern, comfortable, and had amazing views that made the whole trip feel special. The community of residents was incredible. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, and we even got invited to some pre-game parties within the community, which made us feel right at home. There were a few construction areas around the property, but no active work was happening while we were there, so it didn’t interfere with our comfort. We spent a lot of time at the Tavern, which has a great atmosphere and a firepit outside that was perfect for evenings. The lower-level basement is also worth checking out if that’s your thing. The pool was amazing, and the renovations already made around the property are really nice. One tip: rent a golf cart to get around, it makes exploring much easier and more fun. I was a little sad to see the original tent sites are gone since they had so much character, but I’m excited to see Timberfell’s future vision come together. Of course, there are always things that can be improved, but that’s true of any establishment. What matters is that Timberfell is clearly looking for continuous improvement and keeping with the times. Most importantly, Timberfell felt like a great, safe place to truly be yourself. It wasn’t clicky at all, just open and welcoming, and that made the whole experience even better. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Stayed 09/20/24 to 09/21/24|The road to Timberfell was a nice one full of scenic rolling mountains and cool air this time of year. Getting in to the grounds is a narrow gravel road that tapers down to a gate with one car at a time traffic due to limited space so it is something to consider if your traveling in a big rig. But most cars or trucks shouldn’t face any issues entering and exiting just be courteous. The grounds are located about a 5 minute drive to an interstate plaza with a dollar general, TA gas station and general store and a couple of small restaurants.|Alright that’s enough about getting here so you’ve arrived hurray! Youll find yourself entering a cozy compact looking community of 5th wheels, mobile homes, RVs and cabins right upon entering. The office offers self checking on a computer located outside which is extremely convenient for travelers arriving after hours so that’s a huge plus in my book, if theres one thing that gets me down about a road trip its rushing to the next destination in order to make it intime for check in. right next to the self check in and office youll find the newly renovated pool and bar area which is spacious and well equipped for large events and parties. |There are two bars here from what I was told a pool side bar and a tavern located a little further in the grounds up a hill. I was able to visit both the tavern bar has all the things you would expect from a gay bar laser light show a decent sound system, a pool table, a TV for viewing, and its also located right above the “Playspace” which is equip with 1 swing, a bench, a chair, and some holy walls. Well leave it at that for the sake of the public. |Lets talk amenities, this place has a couple of cabins, bunk houses, log houses, and so on to stay at while you’re here and they all look really nice from what I’ve seen. I prefer to stay in a tent so that’s what I’ll focus on. The designated tent area was located up a hill off a small cliff. You have to walk down some stairs to get to the tent sites and set up home. Its not as much of a challenge as it might sound but I would highly recommend packing light or having a 4 wheel drive vehicle to drive down the cliff side and get closer to your set up area. I was able to traverse the hill with a jeep renegade trailhawk on mud mode. The tent area doesn’t have designated electrical site outlets but there are general use outlets placed around the area that you can plug into however that doesn’t mean you own it so be courteous to your other campers if they need to plug in and also bring a long extension cord I recommend about 100ft. |Lets talk about the community here, which is with most campgrounds I’ve been to the selling point of a good grounds and is most definitely the case here. I am 29 and while I didn’t see many men near my age or younger here the men here all have very livly and youthful spirits. I was invited to a party at one of the perms sites and with in 5 minutes was introduced to about half the residents and given probably 5 or more shots haha! These guys really know how to party and have a good time they stayed up well past me I was in bed by midnight while the rest continued on til 2am. Everyone was very friendly to me and there were bodies of all types here from your fit daddies to your chubs and bears everyone was welcomed and everyone felt welcomed. |All in all I would say I enjoyed my 1 night stay at Timberfell resort and I heard it has a stained reputation from a past owner but those visiting should know that the grounds are apparently under new ownership for the last 2 years or so and theyre pouring money into this place to make it a better campgrounds and you can see it. Give this grounds a chance and you wont be disappointed. Thank you for reading I’m off to my next...
