Close to Sutton's Bay, Wild Cherry Resort offers a quiet reprieve in a picturesque setting. Each spacious RV site offers full hookup, 50 amp, a picnic table, and a fire pit. Most sites are gravel with a side patio, but some sites are grass only. Pull-in sites surround the scenic pond with a fountain; the remainder of the sites are back-in sites. The park offers wifi connection, fire wood, ice, and golf balls to be used at the on-site driving range. Being pet-friendly, doggy bag/disposal stations are available as well as morning roadside trash collection service. There are upper and lower RV camping areas with paved roads. For walkers and bikers, the lower loop is 1/2 mile around; the hill from the lower loop to the upper loop including the loop around the office is just under 1/2 mile. If you want a bit more exercise, walk the office down to the park entrance and back (nice hills there.) The onsite "Cherry Bark Lodge" is a seasonal full log building that may be used for campers or for special events (special events may be booked via a phone call or online - see website.) For a more rustic camping experience, the park has 10 tent sites, two cabins, and one yurt. An outdoor heated shower, two porta johns, and water are available for these rustic sites. And finally, thank you to Brian and all the work campers in the park for making our stay an enjoyable one.

Beautiful grounds and amazing location. No wifi and barely any cell signal - personally I consider those a PLUS not a con. We camp to disconnect! You really cannot beat the location or price when you consider any Airbnb/VRBO in the area starts at a minimum of $250 a night in OFF season, and there isn't a hotel in this neck of the woods. We enjoyed the view over the pond and walking around and to see the perfect fall colors. We took the very short drives to Leland (aka Fish Town), Suttons Bay, and the wineries/distilleries. This campground even comes to every site, each day, to pick up your trash bags, and delivers a daily paper. The trash pick up is a great service! Never had that at any other campground. I read reviews from people complaining about the lack of bathrooms (for those staying in RVs), amenities for kids, and the cell/wifi and I wonder if they bothered to do 5 seconds of research before staying? Their website is pretty clear and easy to understand. And if you're familiar at all with Leelanau Peninsula - the lack of cell signal is not exclusive to this campground. We would gladly stay again.

The setting is lovely, the office staff and work campers couldn’t be better! The location is ideal. There is a driving range above the park and nice hiking trails throughout the wooded areas. We travel full time and specially look for class A parks. This park, however beautiful, lacks seriously in several areas considering a charge of over $500 per week as of June 2021 for lakeside spots. Most sites have had gravel at some point but not recently. At least 50% are grass and not level. There’s good separation between sites but no privacy plantings. If there is a lone shrub it’s too close to the rigs making tank maintenance challenging. The lake was not maintained. Algae was an obvious problem and the two fountains were not operable. WIFI was very poor. There is a clubhouse but no water. Meaning no kitchen, public bathrooms or laundry. The handicapped entrance was up a grass embankment and the entrance to the office was loose gravel. The only public restroom was on a forest trail and it was a porta potty. You have to be self contained. This park is a campground not a resort.

Your response is almost two years after this occurred, so understandably incorrect recollection of events. I do not leave bad reviews, but this was a horrible experience and you were the epitome of stranger danger. Bad enough that another family camping came over to check on us after you left. I am only reiterating other patron’s similar experiences that you were belligerent and refused to admit your mistake double booking sites. Which could have been easily remedied and you still refuse to acknowledge. Anyone considering booking with you should reconsider. I am very appreciative and respectful of anyone that opens their home and property to the public. There are abundant welcoming places to stay in Leelanau that ensure a wonderful, friendly experience in this beautiful location. In my experience and clearly other reviewers, I would recommend checking other locations.

Original review: Do not stay here if you are a woman traveling alone, or with kids, or if your name sounds the least bit foreign. The previous commenters are correct in the assessment of the owner being belligerent and he is a creep too. But we just needed somewhere to stay a couple nights during our week of camping in beautiful Leelanau and everything else was booked in the area. I didn’t think it could be that bad, but his behavior was atrocious. Both nights, we arrived to someone else at our site. It all could have been managed with a bit of tactful customs service and advance notice what site we were supposed to be. Instead, the second night, they called and asked me if they could move my stuff and how they needed us to move for a group of friends. He clearly double booked the sites and I was understanding the first night, but I tried to explain that I didn’t care they were friends, I just needed to know where my daughter and I could sleep, because we were arriving back late. The owner went on an angry tirade and cornered us alone in the woods when we returned, yelling, swearing, going on about how it was his property and he could do what he wanted and how I was probably on welfare. He wanted me to respond similarly to show all the other campers that I was just as horrible of a person as he was, but my daughter and I had to wait until he was done yelling so we could get out of there safely and find somewhere else to sleep for the night.

This is not kid friendly, it’s overpriced, other reviewers are correct about the outhouses, and curious water setup. But the area is beautiful and the owner obviously gets away with treating certain people horribly. But James Spinniken, it should not matter if I was on welfare or if I drove up in a Lexus. You have no right to behave that way, especially in front of children. Doesn’t matter if it is on...

Wild Cherry Campground on the Leelanau Peninsula is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best of Michigan's natural beauty. My husband and I have stayed here several times and are always greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home. The campground is impeccably maintained, with spacious, well-manicured sites that offer both privacy and picturesque views. One of the standout features of Wild Cherry is its commitment to providing a peaceful and relaxing environment. The quiet hours are respected, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the lack of city noise allows for a truly immersive nature experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to assist with any needs or questions, enhancing the overall experience with their helpfulness and knowledge about the area. The location of Wild Cherry is perfect for exploring the Leelanau Peninsula. Just a short drive away, you'll find charming towns, beautiful wineries, and stunning Lake Michigan beaches. The nearby hiking and biking trails are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, and the campground itself offers lovely walking paths that allow you to enjoy the natural surroundings without having to venture far. Wild Cherry Campground is a haven of tranquility, natural beauty, and exceptional service. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature and loved ones. We can't recommend it highly enough and can't wait to return for another...
