We spent a few days here for my first trip to Maine and the area is amazing. The unspoiled beauty of the lake and woods that surround the area is breathtaking! The Lodge and Cabins are a perfect way to experience all this area has to offer. ||The cabins are rustic (they are old hunting cabins made from actual logs) but they offer the comfort of a full bathroom and kitchen. We didn’t need heat for our stay but the cabin had a large stone fireplace that would certainly turn the cabin into a warm, comfortable haven in the winter. The best part of the cabin was the quiet; at night, with all the windows open, the only sound you could hear was the wind in the trees. It was so peaceful!!||The owners are great!! They want you to love the lake and surrounding area as much as they do and it shows; they work hard to make your experience the best it can be. They are always willing to share fishing hot spots and the best island beaches so that you can have the best Nicatous experience you can. ||On our final night we sat around the lodge fire, lakeside, listening to the Loons call and counting falling stars. It just doesn’t get any better than that. I will definitely go back to...

Situated on the shores of Nicatous Lake, the historic lodge is surrounded by soaring pines and 8 very rustic, well furnished, log cabins. The living room’s massive, fieldstone fireplace and deep-seated, comfortable furniture create a wonderful ambiance that kept our large group talking and laughing well into the night. Walking back to my cabin each night, I couldn’t help but look up and stare at the canopy of sparkling stars over my head --- nature at its best! “Dynamite Dave” lived up to his infamous reputation as the energetic host that knows everything about the lake and surrounding area. He skillfully led our 6 motor-boat convoy on a tour around the lake and dozens of islands—we saw a majestic bald eagle perched high on a tree! Truly spectacular! If you want to breathe clean, pine-scented air, build roaring bonfires on the beach, kayak and fish in tranquil, pristine waters, this is the place for relaxation and a “throwback Maine”...
Read moreHave been a camp owner in this area since the late seventies but have been recently spoiled by the new owner affectionately known as "Dynamite Dave". There is something special about a place that feels better than what you own in the same area. Dave make sure everyone is comfortable with their surroundings including his not to be missed highly touted dockside orientation prior to castoff. Make sue you take in all or some part of his meal packages as nothing is cooked the same way twice given all of his secret recopies. His lifelong attachment to the area allows for many a story from back in the day that will touch on the events of Maine's four seasons. So if it's fishing, hunting, boating, kayaking,4-wheeling, or just curling with a good read on the screened porch than Nicatous Lake Lodge beckons your...
