I used to frequent this business many summers over my lifetime. However, I refuse to give them any more business. They have gone from a small family owned camping and hunting business to a Trump worshiping alt right company. This is easily fact checked by visiting their company Facebook page in which they frequently post things relating to both their personal beliefs religiously as well as their political support for Trump. People are entitled to their opinions and their political beliefs as well as their religious beliefs. That being said, your personal opinions should not be reflected in your place of business. if you align your business with your political beliefs, then I align my personal choice to not patronize your business based on my own personal beliefs. It’s an absolute shame that what once used to be a very nice welcoming and friendly place to visit has become such a political and religious hellscape. Unfortunately, I do not believe that my opinion that politics, religion and business should be all kept separate will mean anything to this...

We showed up by happenstance due to poor planning. Baxter State Forest was not open for camping and we had planned to get further North that day. Landing where we did with our camper was ideal, to say the least, especially considering camping gets closed in most locations across Maine after Columbus Day and the winter camping season had yet to begin.

The hosts were most accommodating and the location was beautiful. Breakfast the next day was the cherry on top. Serendipity at it's finest. I only wish they made their coffee available for sale online 😉

They are off grid so we could hear the generator running at night, but it wasn't loud enough to bother us where we were setup. They offer WiFi in the main house seeing as there is little to no service in the area.

I wouldn't mind planning a trip around coming back to stay a few nights to really take in the location. It was truly enjoyable to be 'off season' and not have to share with too many...

I stayed at Deer Yard Cabin for two nights to hike Travelers. Location is perfect and near the North Entrance of Baxter State Park. Cabin was clean with enough kitchen utensils pans etc, and bathroom towels. There is light and gas stove. Owner also provided big jug of drinking water. This cabin does not have fridge or electricity (to charge electronics). Water was flowing strong. Hot water for shower was also available. I stayed during summer and temp was in 90F so cold shower was what I needed.

Owners were great. I arrived late at 830pm and they just told me go directly to the cabin which was already ready. I did my account /payment after the hike.

Mama Bear Kitchen has great food. I had burgers.

I will definitely stay there again for same thing-...

Great camp ground and cabins. Nice lake by the cabins and eating place like Shin pond. I do however Wish they will say on their website, that this area has no cell service or no internet. That throws people off in this time and age. Practically no means of communication if people were to get lost. No power outlets in cabin. Gas stove in bears den was broken and was a fire hazard basically. Needs to fix the knobs in the stove. The cabin gets very hot and humid during august summers and no outlet to put a fan on. And so many bugs and mosquitoes that u cant keep windows open. Beautiful starry night.
