I wish I was putting a good review. At first the customer service was good and my wife and I and my wife’s service dog were excited. My wife messaged them beforehand letting them know that she’s disabled and that she has a service dog they were thankful we told them. When we got there it a a cute little motel not super fancy but that’s ok we don’t really care for that. We just needed something comfortable for my wife since she’s disabled. When we got there my wife walked in (yes she can walk. But she can’t walk a lot or she will pass out. With a condition that mimics a heart attack. She can’t walk up a flight of stairs ) she wanted to leave her service dog with me since the walk wasn’t too far to the door. Only 5 steps. Eventually we got our code and room number. This is where I am having to make my bad review. I don’t know if this is illegal or not but they literally put us in the top floor where we had to hike 20 stairs. I’ve had to carry my wife and make 100 trips to get our bags. It’s ridiculous. Not only that but we got charged for my wife’s service dog. you can read this again. WE GOT CHARGED FOR MY WIFES SERVICE DOG. definitely not coming back. Another thing. I picked this place for my wife cause I know it reminds her of home and especially her favorite is free breakfast. Until our bacon was raw and the eggs were gray tented. I thought this would be handicap friendly. Definitely isn’t. If you’re handicapped I wouldn’t recommend this place. I paid on Expedia $199 and some change. Tell me why I get there and they say they don’t take 3rd party payments. So apparently I had to pay another $250. Why didn’t they tell me that before charging?

Over many years of travel, I have often wondered what it might be like to buy one of those roadside motels - you know the ones - single story, modest in stature, and filled with all manner of people from just about anywhere. Buy it and make it into something my own. On a recent trip with my musician husband, as a part of Interstellar Echoes - a Pink Floyd Tribute Band, we had occasion to stay at one such place. The Blue Sky Inn along the Appalachian Highway in Blue Ridge, GA is definitely a vision in progress. The rooms were renovated with special decor touches and the grounds added that little something special not found at chain hotels. The staff were welcoming, cheerful, and helpful. Cleanliness must be a priority for the staff as there was not a butt to be found anywhere and the rooms sparkled. (Yeah, I’m that gal who travels with Lysol and cleaning wipes…but, I didn’t need them at The Blue Sky!) Breakfast was tasty. We had waffles, eggs, bacon and coffee. (Please have dedicated hot water for tea drinkers). There was yogurt, fruit, bagels, and juice available as well. Evenings at The Blue Sky are made for meeting new friends. The motel offers a happy hour along with the chance to meet and greet. A lovely touch. Overall, I was pleased with the stay and glad to have been able to get a glimpse into just how dreams can become a reality. Good Job and best of luck Blue Sky.

We had an okay stay @ The Modern Inn; but there were both good & bad things during our stay. I'll list them all to be fair. The office personnel were very nice, helpful, welcoming, and they care about their place & the people who chose to stay in their Inn. The room looked cozy & the sheets, blanket & pillows all looked & smelled clean. The bed was firm (not too firm). The Donut Shop coffee was Wonderful (using our own creamer). The water felt very nice while showering - it didn't dry my skin. The nature view out of our door was AMAZING! They are Pet Friendly & had a really nice, grassy area for the dogs to walk & go. The updates they did were looking nice. Fair price! Perfect Location! Even though the renovations were very nice, the bathroom & a few other things could use a little more work to make it a better, safer stay. The rooms should be aired out or something because it smelled strong of paint & mold. Shower curtain had mold spots. Bathroom ceiling was slightly drooping & had some mold, also behind the toilet was a rough repair job that could have mold in there. The toilet was loose/wobbly. We tried opening the main door to let the fresh, mountain air in to air it out; but there was a lot of cigarette smoke all around, so we had to close the door & tried running the bathroom exhaust fan. It wasn't enough & I started to feel ill, so I went to Walmart & bought a $120 UV air purifier, which finally helped. Coffee pot was dirty. The upstairs neighbors were very loud (lots of banging up there, rolling things around, heavy-heavy heels & very inconsiderate). They addressed the noisy neighbor issue IMMEDIATELY, which we were grateful for!! Dog poop in the grass should be picked up by pet owners. I hope The Modern Inn works on some of this - it would make a BIG DIFFERENCE! If they work on these things, this will be a Fantastic place when finished. We would consider staying there again & now I'm better prepared to know what to ask for & take along with me to be able to deal with some of the issues. They were good people, it was a cute place, and it wasn't all that bad, which is why 4 stars. How they deal with issues makes this...

The time is now 4:19am. Let me just say I have tossed and turned all night long on this extremely uncomfortable, cheap memory foam mattress. The motel is extremely far from “Modern”! There are NO telephones in any of the rooms! The WiFi does NOT work and I was not notified the WiFi had been down a few day and wouldn’t be fixed for a few days. The bedding was dirty and the sheets contained pubic hair. The pillows were extremely tiny and flat. Again the bed extremely uncomfortable and there was period blood stains in the mattress pad!!!!!! After I complained I was only offered a 10 percent discount if I stay another night and new bedding. There were flies all inside the room and dead bugs in the bathroom light fixture. The bathroom had marks all over the door like a dog was locked in there and chewed up the door frame! The handles in the shower weren’t even placed in the faucet correctly. The window until ac was very bad and only worked on one setting. There were trashcans by my room which caused additional flies and rodents as night fell. I spoke to the manager Russel that seemed friendly, but there’s no point to continue to call the office to complain to someone if I’m only being offered discounts on a future stay. I have itched all night long in the bed and tossed and turned all night. This was the worst experience and stay I’ve ever had at any hotel. Twenty dollars more gets you a stay at an actual 5 star hotel in the area. Words cannot express my extreme frustration. The pictures on the website looked NOTHING at all like the actual room! All I can say is avoid this place unless you are homeless. I will NEVER come back here! I’d rather have slept in my car. This hotel was extremely overpriced. I wouldn’t even feel comfortable bringing a plant here. I...

It really hurts my heart to leave this review. We really wanted to feel like this was a local kitcy type of motel. Unfortunately, it was not. Pros the water in the room is very hot, like hot hot, which was great once you figured it out. The happy hour was nonexistent. The breakfast was very lackluster. On the front door of the room, which did not really lock by itself, had a list of expenses for things that guests were supposed to do. Things like don’t dirty a towel, don’t wipe up messes with the towel, etc., etc. etc. The problem was that the hotel didn’t have soap, shampoo, or conditioner in the bathroom. There was also no pancake mix and or variety of drinks in the breakfast area. It felt like the hotel was more concerned with what it happened in the past than what their current and our future clients were going to experience in the future. The manager was very sweet and let us get ice from the kitchen, but there was no ice in the icemaker in the lobby. I think the best way if I could describe the management in the hotel as it, they are playing defense instead of playing offense. I know that’s a tough situation to be in as an employee, so we should demand more from a manager. Be happy hour in the outside area where the draws for not getting a cabin, but no firewood/way to set the fire, and no happy hour are the selling points. If you’ve read this far, you should know that the mattress is about a 4 inch padding on top of wooden foundations. The air conditioner sounds like a freight train every time it comes on and doesn’t cool below 68°. It’s very tough to get a good nights sleep with all these conditions. At $60 a night I would’ve been OK knowing...
