I will begin by saying that the view and location of this rental are all they say it is! However, our stay was less than enjoyable!

When we entered the unit, there was a terrible smell reminiscent of a week old diaper pale. In fact, I checked the trash immediately to make sure a diaper was not left by the previous tenant. Upon further investigation, the smell seemed to be originating from the bathroom and back King bedroom. This was not a faint smell, it was a true stink!

When out for dinner, we purchased a candle and air freshener hoping the smell was something that would go away. However, it did not. I emailed Vacasa the next morning to notify them of the issue. They replied that someone locally would call me about this.

By 2pm, I had not heard from anyone. I emailed again and called the phone number to get an answering machine. Approximately an hour later, I finally heard from someone. They said basically a problem existed before with the septic tank and suspect that may still be the issue. They had no one to send because it would need a plumber. Perhaps the following day someone would be available.

I also received a text from Mike, one of the managers with Vacasa in Blue Ridge expressing how sorry he was for the issue and that he would work at getting me some sort of financial compensation for the issue. I believed him! Big mistake!

We received no other calls or any visits concerning this terrible smell that forced us to close up the large bedroom and main bathroom. Essentially, 1/3 of the cabin. Only after we checked out, I received another call that Vacasa was going to issue a $100 credit for our trouble. Our total rental was $1,150.00 for three nights and this amount was what they considered “fair”. Our 2 bedroom was reduced to a 1 bedroom for a 10% discount.

Vacasa does not value their customers and has poor customer service. I recommend never renting from them. Your enjoyment means...
