This is the 2nd year in a row we have stayed at Falling Waters Lodge in Ellijay, GA. We ABSOLUTELY love it! We were 4 adults and 2 kids, and then some friends came, so 2 more adults with a child. Dog friendly which is amazing!!!! We stay 2 weeks at a time and could stay longer. Scott and Karen are simply amazing to work with and chat with. They live on property, which you won't even notice. Don't let that deter you from booking. It was really a great resource to have them so close. We always like to ask questions regarding the house and towns, so it was nice to listen to people who knew what they were talking about.
Location: It is the perfect location to be in Downtown Ellijay within 15 min and to Blue Ridge in about 25/30. Let's not mention this property is within 15 min of 3 wineries!!!
House: there are 5 bedrooms 4 bathrooms. 3 queens and 2 kings which work perfectly for our family and friends. The pool table and dart board are a great way to unwind after an afternoon of exploring the nearby towns. -The kitchen is well stocked with all the items we needed for the 2 weeks. A great addition for us: the ice maker is always full! The dining area is a fun oversized picnic bench that we all sat at comfortably.
THE VIEW! Upon arrival through the gates, it will take your breath away! Every time we drove in, we were (and still are) in awe. The house is situated perfectly on a lake with mountains in the background. we watched a few rain storms come down the mountains which is so cool! The living and dining room have floor to ceiling windows to not get in the way of the view. Off this area is a huge porch. We would sit out there every morning for coffee/tea and embrace being in a cloud. And we would sit out there every evening to watch the sun disappear behind the mountains. A view that will be part of your memory forever. This is where we see most of the wildlife; Tons of geese to watch, fish to catch. We have always seen a few bears out and about, never on this property but far enough away to enjoy them! This year we saw deer and a few beavers.
There is a fire pit that we roasted smores every night when the sun set. The kids enjoyed watching lightning bugs fly around.
Scott and Karen were amazing to work with. If we needed anything, a quick text and it was taken care of. If you are lucky enough, they will even come have a drink with you around the fire and share stories!
Truly a memorable place to share with friends and family. I promise you will not regret staying at...
Read moreBlessed by good timing, my bride and I were the only guests arriving on a quiet, sunny midweek afternoon in early spring well before the popular weeks of the summer season. We enjoyed the drive through Ellijay and up past apple orchards onto the short lane to the large gate and gatehouse at the edge of the property. After entering the code into the electronic system that controls the high gates, we were speechless in response to our first view of the property as it came into sight. A long sweeping slope of well-tended grass leads down to the lovely lake, behind which rise a range of north Georgia mountains. To the left side of the lake a walking bridge, toward the middle of the near shore an attractive Scandinavian lodge of log and stone, and to the right a stream with natural waterfalls cascading over the rocks--we were in a place we had seen before, but only in dreams, travel magazines, or films. Innkeeper Roger Patterson emerged from the innkeeper's cottage next to the lodge, greeted us, gave us a friendly orientation to the place, and then left us alone to enjoy it for a few hours before serving us the dinner that he had offered to prepare for us for only a modest extra charge. That night, just following a full moon, we slept the sleep of the gods in a huge and comfortable bed, waking occasionally to look out at the moonlight playing on the surface of the lake. Breakfast the next morning featured Roger's fluffy and delicious blueberry pancakes, omelette, toast, and fresh coffee. We almost wept when we departed, having scheduled a next stop in Nashville that we were unable to cancel in order to stay longer in the most beautiful--and most delightfully quiet--place we may ever be privileged to experience during the rest...
Read moreFalling Waters Lodge is impeccably maintained. The space featured floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking views of a serene lake, complete with a vibrant display of bird activity. Each room in the lodge was profoundly inviting, with tall ceilings and warm wood accents that created a cozy yet expansive atmosphere.
Scott and Karen, the gracious owners, were consummate hosts whose attentiveness made the stay even more memorable. Their well-mannered and friendly dog, Winston, added a delightful touch as a welcoming mascot.
I left with a deep appreciation for the unique blend of comfort, elegance, and warmth that defines this lodge. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit.
The nitty gritty: 20 min from wineries, groceries, and hiking the kitchen is hands down the best stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a vacation rental. You could legitimately cater a party and want for nothing. owners live on site, right beside the home but are very good at making it seem like they're never home and giving you all the privacy you need there is a jacuzzi and sauna! there is a small bumbling waterfall that an especially be heard at night near the lodge it is not very walkable around the neighborhood there is ample grassy area to play with kids, play touch football, or roll around with the pets the rooms are impeccably clean and well appointed there are two primaries - the bigger one is above a cozy games room there is a romantic wine cellar style bedroom below the games room where the sauna is located the place is huge. bring...
