I don't normally leave reviews but I wanted to share the experience my wife and I had staying at Under the Hemlock. We've been full time RV'ers for about 2 years now and love it! Our daughter lives outside Atlanta and she needed some help. That meant we needed to find a comfortable & convenient place to stay for aprox 4 months while our daughter finished her schooling. I called around to find a place with FHU and not too pricey that could accommodate our extended stay. That's when I called Mike at Under the Hemlock. After I explained what we needed he invited us to see his place and from the moment we pulled in, I knew we found exactly what we were looking for! We were offered FHU in a quiet spot with a monthly rate that was more than fair. After spending almost 5 months here it's time for us to move on, but Under the Hemlock is more like a second home to us now. Mike the owner is the epitome of southern hospitality! He is always doing little jobs around the campground and constantly upgrading his little slice of heaven in the Georgia mountains. This place is all you could need, it's clean, quiet, safe and conveniently located to everything the area has to offer. We've stayed at hundreds of campgrounds and this one by far takes the cake! We can only say Thank you Mike for your passion & dedication to making this place a true home away from home! If you ever get the opportunity to spend a few days...or like us a few months at Under the Hemlock, I'm sure you'll agree that this place is special! We'll be back next year and fingers crossed Mike will have a spot for us again! Thanks Mike, we...
Read moreVery small campground with a few RV/travel trailer sites, + cabins. Our site was not level, only clay dirt. Downhill back-in. Water and electric only. No 'dump' for holding tank - owner said go to a 'Flying J.' 110 electric connection box was in poison ivy patch. Bathhouse: showers, toilets, sinks are long walking distance up/down hill from campsite; gravel road. Campsite very dark, due to high treed banks on both sides. One short road in/out. Could not put out mat for chairs due to tree stumps. Store open sporadically - maybe on weekends? $35/nt. (Sep'19)||||No one else there 1st night. 2nd night group of 3 men w/1 travel trailer + 3 trucks took next site. Very loud, profane, appeared inebriated.||||We ended up here for 2 nights due to site at other campground originally reserved being impossible to get into at Amicalola State Park/Ga. around 4p. Agent at front desk referred us here. We have a small 20' travel trailer towed with full size Dodge pick-up and experienced commercial driver. The day after 1st night, we located a different campground and moved the following day to a wonderful nearby park with lovely lake, bright and sunny, walking trails and full-hookups $40/nt: Diamond...

Worth every penny, itâs not as âluxuriousâ as commercial/goverment funded campground, (and itâs not like camping is about luxury)
BUT The genuine North GA southern charm is OFF THE CHARTS, Mike has been here 30 years making chainsaw bear carvings and boiled peanuts, and the friendly yet professional service has been amazing.
He met me PROMPTLY at the gate as I pulled in for a late check-in, filled me in on the grounds and gave me a quick tour after helping guide me to back into my campsite. (Iâm not new to camping, but I am new to towing a camper since I have have a toddler now)
Chili dogs and boiled peanuts were great, the whole staff was super nice to my 3 year old who was VERY curious and entertained by the bear carvings ;)
Seriously I hope this is the review yâall read that makes your mind go âyea, this is the placeâ because this is certainly the place I will be returning to again to have a relaxing weekend SUPER close to Amicalola State Park and many other nearby hiking...
