Subject: Request for Full Refund Due to Unacceptable Stay Conditions â Grand Hyatt Tampa Casitas
Dear Grand Hyatt Management,
I am writing to formally request a full refund for my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Casitas, which fell drastically short of the standards expected from a Hyatt property.
From the moment of check-in, we encountered multiple issues that disrupted what was meant to be a special birthday getaway. Despite having a confirmed reservation, we did not receive the additional room on the first night and were instead told it was unavailableâforcing us to wait until 2 PM the next day to get the key. This inconvenience alone should have waived the $200+ nightly rate for the extra room.
Throughout our stay, the conditions of the casita were severely below acceptable standards: âą The bathtubs were rusty and poorly patched. âą The ceiling had visible open patches, cracks, and cuts, which were not only unsightly but raised concerns about safety. âą The sofa and rug were stained and appeared not to have been cleaned or sanitized properly. âą Dust was visible on surfaces, and wiping down the table collected a layer of white powder-like dust, indicating poor housekeeping. âą The refrigerator was not working and the ice maker was broken. Despite repeated complaints, it was only replaced with a one-time bucket of ice. âą Only one TV had Chromecast capability, and none were smart TVs as advertised. âą The other refrigerator made a loud, disturbing noise, preventing us from sleeping properly. âą Power went out on the third night, and when we tried to reach out for assistance, Olivia Stollier was extremely rude and dismissive, showing zero empathy while we were left to find a way to cool off and eat outside in the heat. âą When requesting service, housekeeping only made the beds and did not clean the unit properly. âą The restaurant was under construction, and its hours online did not reflect reality, which caused additional inconvenience when we tried to plan a brunch.
Additionally, the check-in process was frustrating. The first person we encountered had no interest in helping us find the room we had booked, instead trying to move us to the main hotel building rather than the Casitas as originally reserved.
Overall, this stay was worse than a motel experience and absolutely not worth the $1,400+ we paid for three nights. The facility is outdated, poorly maintained, and misrepresented online. What should have been a relaxing and memorable birthday vacation turned into a series of frustrating and uncomfortable moments.
I am therefore formally requesting a full refund for the entire stay. I urge your management team to review this case seriously and take immediate action to improve service and facilities to prevent this from happening to other guests.
Sincerely, Gleinys...

We wish to raise concerns in regards to a booking we made with Virgin Holidays, booking reference number 6545265. Whereas we stayed at the below location.
First according to the booking which was purchased by Virgin Holidayâs was for a 1 x King Bed on the day of visit, we were not checked in to a King bed by the employee at the hotel, Ms Cheryl at Conciege. The bed was a double specifications with measurements and also based on my height to being 6 foot 3. Conciege did not notify us of any downgrading taking place at point of check-in and took a payment of $50.00USD. This was not notifed to us of deduction, and now had any communication on this merit regards to if we will get this back. The Hotel was in denial that the bed was not a double and alledge measured it, until put on the spot regards measurements they reverted their comments and offered to compensate.
Spoke to the Manager at the Hotel on 06/25/23, did not seem to have a care in the world â she advised that would have to investigate our concerns and call us back. This happened and a voicemail was left for me, advising would call back with a follow-up on Monday or Tuesday within the new week. This did not take place and have had to chase for following up which outlines unprofessionalism.
Amenities specified on the Grand Hyatt website were not delivered in line with the King Room specifications such as; Shower facilities, Robes, No Slippers.
According to the Grand King website advertising a King Room the bed matching the Image vs. what we had and were different.
We have spoken to the hotel management team over the phone, they seem to not be able to help as we did not book via them and was done between me and Virgin and to take up the concerns with you directly.
My partner, which stayed with me had concerns around the bed informing was extremely uncomfortable and felt like was made of plastic, which I share the same views. It was not a peaceful sleep to top this off with the comfort failing us, as our co-residence stays in room 324 was slamming doors all night which sounded like coming from the their toilet and the main door.
I am disapointed with the delivery from the hotel, being reviewed 4.5/5 stars and miselling to...

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay and had a great experience overall. The property is situated right on the bay, offering stunning views, and its location is idealâonly about seven minutes from Tampa International Airport. While the location is prime, having a car is necessary to get around.
Parking: Valet parking was convenient, costing about $37 a night with tax, while self-parking was $25 a night.
Check-in: The check-in process was smooth, and the front desk team was friendly and welcoming. As a World of Hyatt member, I received two complimentary champagne tokens and a complimentary upgrade to a corner bay view room, which was a thoughtful touch.
Room: The rooms appear to have been recently renovated and were spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped with high-end bath products and a fridge. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi was slow and unreliable, and the smart TV in my room couldnât stream or connect to apps. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue with the front desk and engineers, it remained unresolved during my three-night stay. The manager followed up with an apology and offered World of Hyatt points, which was appreciated.
Amenities: The resort offers two pools, though one was out of order due to storm damage in 2024. The gym is a decent size but feels very outdated. It also gets quite busy in the early mornings. If they upgraded the gym, it would elevate this property to five stars.
Dining: Oystercatchers, located a short 10-minute walk from the hotel (or reachable via their car service), was a highlight of my stay. I enjoyed both lunch and dinner there, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the burger and key lime pieâthey were among the best Iâve had anywhere. Service was attentive and made the dining experience even better.
Overall: While there were some hiccups with the TV and Wi-Fi and the gym could use an update, the beautiful location, attentive service, and overall comfort of the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay make it a great choice. Itâs a quiet and relaxing property, perfect for a getaway or business trip. I look forward to returning...
