My hesitance of giving a 4-star rating is based on two issues that I feel have some safety risks associated with the entrance to the units. Pulling out of the VRBO cabins entrance is a risky task. Highway 434 and the road to the units is dirt(gravel) to asphalt. It had large ruts between the two resulting in a slow speed bump entrance to 434. The highway has a speed limit of 45 but leaving the premises a little risky. Acceleration limitations due to the ruts/uneven transition, plus a limited short view, near blind spot of traffic coming from the south (north bound lane). I almost ran out on a work truck because I could not accelerate onto the highway, directly due to the forementioned transition (dirt/gravel to asphalt). I would recommend putting an asphalt pad that connects to the road so you can enter with urgency if needed. I like the gravel roads, but a car length asphalt or solid pad would have better and smoother transition and not wash away or develop the divots, washboard ruts speed type bumps due to weather.
Secondly, nighttime and finding the entrance. The entrance to the cabins is not that visible. Even with GPS it was difficult to hit the entrance. Appreciate the privacy and hidden entry but having to slow to crawl speed (road with 45 mph speed limit) should have been avoided. The entry has two street lamps and shocks me they we not on or working, that could have helped with this issue. The flags and sign sit back from the road a few feet, small, mixed in with trees, you cannot spot them until you are on the entrance (at 45 mph little tough). Need to make the entrance more obvious especially at night.
Passed the two recommendations I suggest correcting, the cabin we stayed in was near perfect. I would return and recommend this VRBO to anyone looking for nice accommodations. The property was near perfect clean, decent Wi-Fi, comfortable living room setup. The bathroom and bedroom were roomy and well laid out. The time to get hot water to the shower and kitchen sink was slow but eventually worked. Some water waste due to the tardy warming, but...

Read moreIt’s difficult to recall all the reasons we were blown away by our stay at Aspen Springs Angel Fire but here we go. We were on a Trout fishing trip with our 12 year old grandson and were hoping for a clean and pleasant experience. Aspen was that and so much more. The surrounding grounds were out of a magnificent travel log. The cabins are nestled in the woods and far enough apart to provide privacy. The cabin and amenities are more than five stars. From an amazing kitchen that was perfect for cooking the trout we caught to the up to date appliances. The living room was perfect with a fireplace that is controlled with the touch of a finger, a great T.V. with every channel you can think of. The master bedroom and bathroom can compete with what you would find in the best five star hotels. The bunk room was just right for our grandson. Amenities were amazing. From the heated sleep number bed to the towel heater and additional bathroom heater control, to say we were satisfied would be a major understatement. Oh the views from the front porch were beyond belief. A family of deer enjoying their breakfast was more than we could ever expect. |Wonderful management and glorious grounds, can’t wait for our next trip...
